I'm trying to find a good cage for my new sun conure, but I have kind of an tight budget and the only cage big enough I could find that was affordable-ish was twice as big as what I needed (57,000+ sq. in.!), and I don't want the new baby to be scared or overwhelmed.

I know I'm lookng for something at least 30x30x30 (thanks Von! :)) but I want to know what bar spacing you guys would recommend. After learning a bunch from Von, I don't want to base everything off of what I learn from websites, and more from you guys who actually have experience.

Thanks! :)

No bigger than 5/8" for a conure. Hope you find one that suits you.

Great, thanks! :) I'll post some links here so you guys can help me pick one. I usually have a hard time making decisions on expensive things .

Okay I thought I would be giving you a list of 5 or 6 cages, but this is the only one I could find. I checked all of the limits/requirements/etc in the left hand bar, and then I put them all in order from lowest price to highest price, and this was only $120, and the cage right after it jumped all the way to $167.. so if this cage will be big enough, I'm probably going to get it! Do you think it's okay? Keep in mind she's just 9 weeks old - still a baby, and when she gets older I might give her free roam of my room (like my tiel), but I'll still keep the cage available of course. Maybe I can tie a rope on the door so she can close the door by herself whenever she wants :). Or idk maybe not. That might be too dangerous do you think?

That is the cage I bought for my sun conure. I like it and it's nicer than the picture looks. They have it at petco online too. There's tons of reviews if you want to read them there.

Oh, great!! :D My mom actually ordered it before I saw your post, but I'm glad it's approved of lol! I just couldn't find a cheaper one closer to this size, and I was so excited when I found this one. It's perfect!! We were going to order from Petco because we discovered they also were selling it for the same price, free shipping, but my mom had a coupon code to CSN, and her coupon code to Petco didn't work, so we decided to get like $5 off from CSN lol :).

Does the cage size matter that much if we leave the cage door open?
We close Liag Zai's cage at night and cover it.
Also close when away so that he does not fly to another part of the house and chew something.

Years ago, in the morning my Blue Crown Conure would open her cage door and come out.
Then walk from my bedroom through the kitchen to her livingroom perch where she would spend the day.
In the evening, she would walk back into the bedroom and go under the sheet and raise her cage door and go inside and roost.

Thank you.

I keep my cockatiel's cage open all day, even when I'm at school because he stays in the bird room, and it's always closed. It's also bird safe and free of cords and wires, since he likes to chew on them .

We do have a Petsmart, but I went to look and none of their cageswere big enough. Plus, they were more expensive than the $120 cage I found, which I ordered already :).

Yeah :). I only have $10 left because I spent all my money on the cage, but my mom gave me some old t-shirts to work with so I can make toys. I really need some natural perches :(.
