Hey all! Just wanted to introduce myself and my birds. I have owned two green cheeks for a little under a year. I decided to cleanse the Facebook off of me and I’m so happy I found another outlet [emoji16]

My turquoise is Byrd haha. Standard is Iris. Byrd is 9 months old. I got him after my first baby, Berd lol, unfortunately unexpectedly passed. He was my first and I only had him for a few months but he was the coolest pet I’ve ever had. He was learning to fly and flew into a wall. It was absolutely devastating and I miss him every day. Byrd is different. very independent and doesn’t really like to be pet so that stinks but he’s been going through his first molt so hopefully that will change. I love that he is he very gentle and does not bite so that’s great (4 kids). I was blessed with Iris! I live in a small but dense community and on a neighborhood Facebook page there was a post about favorite pets and I had posted a picture of Berd. A neighbor happened to have a gcc (Iris) too which I thought was so cool as they don’t seem to be a common pet. I had actually never even seen one until I decided I wanted a bird. Anyways, about 8 months later she messaged me to ask if I wanted her. She couldn’t keep her anymore due to “pandemic job changes”. I thought about it for a few weeks. I visited her. She wasn’t particularly friendly but she stepped up for me. I didn’t want her to go to just anyone so we brought her in. She seemed okay at first and then went totally savage on me! She attacked me and drew blood every day it was rough there for a few weeks! But I wasn’t going to give up on her and now she’s my baby. Spoiled rotten and sooo sweet ... when she wants to be of course lol. Getting through those rough times with her I knew exactly why they wanted to be rid of her and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t about jobs [emoji85] she was meant to be with us [emoji3590]

Aw, what a great way to have birds come to your family. I’m sorry about Berd’s loss. I have one green cheek that is fiercely independent, but follows me around everywhere. Doesn’t want to be handled but wants to be on my shoulder or head. They’re all individual with unique personalities :).
