Need name ideas!

I don't have my sun conure yet, but I think I'm getting her this Saturday! I'll be sure to post lots of pictures :D.

I don't know if she's a boy or a girl, but the breeder told me she thinks she's a girl because of her personality or the way she acts or something. And since I don't plan on breeding, and she already feels like a girl to me because the breeder said so, I'm just going to go with girl and not DNA test her.

I have a couple names in mind.. but any suggestions are welcome! I'm looking for an actual name, not like a descriptive name. But I don't want a very person-y name, but something more like Brook, because it's also an object. She's really cute, inside and out! And she's very friendly :). So I'd like a name that kinda fits her.

Here are my ideas so far (I'm not so good with names!):
- Penny (she's not copper, but I think it's a cute name!)
- Lily
- Indy (kind of common though is it?)

And I might think of some more after I get her. But what other ideas do you have, or which name do you like?

Also, I spent all my money from last month and this month on the cage, so I am totally broke. I might actually have $10 left. But anyway, I don't want to spend a ton on store-bought toys because they're expensive, and I want to make some toys to keep her busy until I get more money. My mom has given me permission to cut up and use her old tshirts, and I also have fleece. I can make things out of paper too, I'm not too bad at that ;). I don't have hemp, and sisal is kind of stiff and scratchy, so do you think embroidery thread is safe for birds? It's like the thread you make friendship bracelets out of. I have a whole BAG of them in all different colors! :D And I'm pretty sure I read that yarn wasn't safe, but what do you guys think? I dont think it's safe for small birds, but is it less of a problem for a larger bird? I also have ribbon :).

So if you guys could give me some toy ideas, that'd be great! I'm going to try to go to Home Depot sometime so I can buy wooden dowels. My mom is pretty handy with power tools, so she can drill holes in them for me :). I have a ladder idea that I really want to try, but I need some hemp for it. I read that nylon isn't bird safe.. is it? I thought nylon was just plastic or something.

And one more thing.. my mom bought pellets for the budgies a long time ago, before we bought seed, and the budgies wouldn't even touch them. Would it be okay to try it with our conure? They're in very small pieces, and I don't know if it would be easier to chew or easier to choke on.. It's like a brand new bag (not old, only from a few months ago), and my mom wouldn't buy the cockatiel pellets because she wanted to get rid of the budgie pellets first. They're Zupreem. I just want to have something for her to eat besides the terrible seed, while I'm at school. I will also be feeding her fruits and veggies and pasta and rice and stuff!! And we normally have white rice, so is that good for them to eat or is it bad for them? I know brown rice is better, but we don't cook rice every day so right now we just have white rice.

Thanks everyone!!

Since it's a Sunny Conure, which will be quite a bit of yellow, why not Sunni. Or my favorite Chaquita, you know like the banana.

Well I wanted a more original name, and a lot of people have sunnies named Sunny lol . Chaquita is a cute name though! And I also speak Spanish :D. But I don't really like bananas, and she has a lot of orange and other colors. But it gave me an idea!! I could name her Chiquita, which means little girl :D. I just have to make sure I never DNA test her, in case she turns out to be a boy LOL!

Or maybe I should get her DNA tested? Then I would know for sure, and not always be wondering at the possibility that she could be a male.. hmm :S I was planning to get her tested before, but then I decided that since I don't have much money, I'd rather buy her toys than have a DNA test. Argh!! I want to know though!

Yeah I had the same drama, not knowing if Loco was a boy or girl.

My bird acts so crazy sometimes that Loco just seemed fitting :)

I like Indy though, cool name.

Hahah aww Loco does sound fitting! :D I'm thinking about getting her tested now because I want to know exactly what she is, and not just what she probably is. And I don't want to find out later that she's a boy, and have to get used to saying "Good boy" instead of "Good girl"! I like Indy too :D. My boyfriend likes it because of Indianapolis Raceway, or whatever it's called... he races gokarts. If she's a boy, I think I'm going to name her Zac, just because I like the name Zac :).

I would wait on the name for the sex and to see what the personality is like. You may just end up changing the name if you don't. Also, old pellets can deteriorate if not kept in ref., at least some of the better ones like Harrisons.

Well they were kept in our basement in a resealable bag, and our basement is usually very cold. Not refrigerator-cold, but it's pretty cold I think!

Yay!! :D But I'll have to see if she's a girl or not. I think Chiquito would be little boy.. but I think Chiquita sounds cuter than Chiquito . Hopefully it's a girl :p. If not then ZAC lol!

Foreign languages can be fun names.

For example, our box turtle's name is Schildkröte which means turtle in German. (Shield toad)
My gray rabbit was зола "Zola" which means ash in Russian. (I am a chimney sweep)
Piganini, my potbellied pig, named after Paganini, because I am an organist and he played the toy piano. You never sausage a pig!
Duck named утка "Utka", means duck in Russian
My wife, from China, named Liang Zai.
Sheeler means smile happy. When we first met at the animal rescue he was very happy and seemed to be smiling.

You don't want any name ideas from me. My GCC's name is "Tori" which meens "Bird"

My fish's name is "Uo" which meens "fish"

I'm so creative! :D

Lol that's so cool!!! Makes it easy to call them lol :p. Not that you would ever need to "call" your fish. My boyfriend named his budgie "Birdie" because any other names didn't seem to stick, and he was just used to saying "Hi birdie!" :p

I might just have to steal "Indy" if I ever get another one. That's awesome.

Haha okay! :D I'm glad you like it!!

Oh that's cool!! I'm also Chinese, but I don't know what Liang Zai means. I can speak it, but it depends on the accents, and I'm not good with names . Does "liang" in this case, mean "two"? :p

Here are some names I like:
Summer
Forest
Nemo(Yea like the movie but I think its a cute name lol)

Ooh I like them!! I have a little clownfishy that I made out of beads named Nemo, but I do like Summer and Forest and Athena!! I'll have to think about them though, because I think Chiquita is a cute name too :p.

Liang = pretty, Zai = boy in Mandarin. (Jenday conure)
I considered pretty bird or pretty parrot or grouch but they are more difficult to say.

Names are fun to pick out. Our girl birds have gem names and all of our birds/pets have people names. I like flower names like Lily, Rose, Iris, Daisy, Dahlia, Jasmine, etc.

Ohhh that's a cool name! :D I didn't know Zai meant boy, but that's a good name!

I was thinking of yellow flowers like Daisy or Buttercup.

I was thinking about that too, but she's not all yellow, so I want a name that doesn't really describe her :).

Chiquita

Thanks!!!! I love that name too :D But I can't decide between Chiquita and Indy and Summer . I think Chiquita though, because I want a very original name :). But I'll see what sticks once I get her! I'm really leaning toward Chiquita though. She better be a girl... :p

I like flower names too! I just couldn't think of any :p. I did think of Iris and Rose and Lily, but they didn't seem to fit her .
