My green cheeks conure, Roxy, is 9 weeks old and she will not bathe herself!! I've had her since she was 3 weeks old and have been hand feeding her, but I can't help but feel like I'm failing to teach her all her life skills. When she was still very small she seemed interested when I ran the tap in the bathroom and she would eagerly jump in... But that was short lived! She was a pretty messy eater and after feedings I would use a Q-tip and warm water and get any excess formula off of her then growing feathers. Could I have seriously confused her? I've tried placing her in water, spraying her with water, splashing her with water, giving her a little bathtub in her cage, SHE IS NOT INTERESTED!! She is really starting to smell, and I've been left with no choice than to physically bathe her myself... PLEASE HELP!!!

nut won't bath by herself, so when i have a bath she will now come on me for a splash :) every now an again i will use a spray bottle on her, but she is not over keen, sometimes she'll come in with me others she'll just watch an preen herself.

in what way is your bird starting to smell?? nut seems odourless except when she eats orange lol

Water can be scary to a bird without webbed feet. Try to be calm and reassuring with Roxy. Also try different temps and methods - cooler/warmer; bath or shower, etc.
