OK, so I have another question. I have my bird for 6 weeks and I've only seen him drink water once. I've tried bottled water, distilled water, plastic dishes, stainless dishes; doesn't seem to care. I have a suspicion he's just been drinking behind my back, because there is still urine in his poo and his skin looks healthy and still has its elasticity. I have been feeding him apples and grapes so he may just be getting liquid from that as well.

How much water should I expect my sun conure to drink daily?

May I experiment with any types of juices to ensure he's getting plenty of fluid? Are some better than others, or should i just try to find the lowest amount of sugar?

If your conure is eating lots of fruit & vegetables daily he would not require much water at all. I would have to say that they normally drink first thing morning & last thing of an evening. You can always tell if they have had a drink by the amount of food particles in the water at the end of the day.

Good advice, there is food particles in the water, i just figured it was because he is a messy eater.

My conure doesn't' drink often either BUT....when he's running around as I do the dishes he has this fascination with drinking the water dripping off the dishes....can't be good for him!

He does however like to drink if I have the tap on or he's in the the shower with me and I see him bath a bit in his water dish.

Hi, I had a problem where my parrot wasn't drinking water and I realized he just didn't want COLD water. That's most likely why your parrot is drinking the warm water running off the dishes. Give him a bowl of fresh warm water and he might really enjoy that.
My Cockatoo won't go to bed without a few sips of warm water first!
