It's 36" long and 6" wide. It's made with 7/8" rails and 1/2" rungs. So it's a stout one for sure.

Yes, it took me about an hour. I bought the dowels from Ace Hardware. It's pretty stout and with 6" wide rungs it can handle anything from Amazons to Macaws and about anything inbetween, especially with 7/8" rails and 1/2" rungs. hahahahaha.

looks great! May I ask how you did it? did you just drill holes into the side dowels and slide the smaller ones into them?

No, I actually use smaller 1/8" dowel rods, drilled holes in the rails and in the ends of the rungs and inserted the 1/8 dowel rods along with wood glue. I tool a dremel tool with a sanding drum and concaved the end of the rungs to give them a nice tight fit. Right now, It's just resting on his play stand and attached with a couple of twist ties. But tomorrow I will use two "L" shaped bracket screws and screw them into the top ends of the side rails and then drill two holes in the side of the wooden perch. The L shapped bracket screw will slide into the holes in the perch, which will make it easy to remove and clean or have the ability to use it else where.

To give a better idea of the size of this ladder. Here is my little Senegal climbing on it.

Looks great! You're quite the handyman! :)

Thanks, my other hobbies are building wooden ship models and also wooden radio control planes.

Here are a couple of pictures of one of the USS Constitution models that I built for a fellow in CT. It was 4 feet long and took me close to 2000 hours to build.

Here's a picture of a PT-17 Stearman that I built.
