I went to the dollar store today and found a few items that i thought would make a great toy.. now that it's done I'm wondering if it's safe enough to give it to phoenix.

Here's the toy... I know its a little ugly lol but I made it with love :)

I would be scared of Phoenix biting the beads, breaking them and swallowing them.

I got the idea from a few bird toys i've seen at pet stores...
Should I not give it to her??? I've given her beeds before do you think she swallowed some?? :(

I think the toy is great! Yes, it must be untreated wood. Treated wood is toxic. The beads look fine. You know your bird and whether it will eat things like that. None of my birds would. DIY toys are great!

As long as that quicklink is stainless steel it looks like something I'd give Kazi (and he'd quickly destroy). You can stuff shredded paper and a few nuts in the wiffle ball too :D

Yep, it looks great! As long as the quicklink is SS and the wood is UNtreated, it looks like fun to me! Some people are paranoid about birds swallowing beads, but honestly they're smarter than that. I don't think I've ever heard a story of a bird swallowing/choking on a bead or small toy part.

those balls are awesome XD
i have four all strung up on some thick sisal with knots in between them, but still so they can slide up and down, and hung it in his cage. he uses the rope as a ladder to get to all the heights of his cage and loves when i put almonds in them.

and you're probably ok with a smaller bird, and that toy looks pretty safe to me, but the only thing i personally would look out for (because pickle likes chewing rope) is if they are hanging off the beads, and then chews through the rope so that they fall.

- but again, you wouldn't think they would be that stupid and it has never actually happened to me. lol XD

Toy looks great, very colourful
Please just be careful, you never know whether your bird can or will break those beads and swallow them
