Any way to recycle shredded boings and sisal perches?

I have been spending oodles of money on rope boings and sisal perches. I replace them, but I wonder if there is a way to reuse the shredded ones? My macaw tends to only tear at the part that feeds into the plastic end caps, so the rest of the perch/ spiral is intact.

Does anyone know of anyway to make new toys out of these that I have collected over the past year?

I have a lot! Some only last a week....

I hate to throw out something that looks quite new, with the exception of the fuzzy end.

I don't know of any recycle options, but there are some decent instructions floating around the net, about how to make your own.....it would save you at least half of what you're paying now.....

It would seem to me that you could cut them off and glue new end caps on them. Where to fund the fancy end caps that fit the cage bars??? You might be able to glue PVC fitting with a threaded male end. (i think it's called a "slip joint to threaded male adapter) Cut the threads down to where they fit between the bars and screw a threaded female cap on to it ,to secure it. There's a trick to cutting the braided fibre part of the boing, use a hot knife or wrap with electrical tape before cutting to keep it from unraveling. You can "burn " the ends to melt them together so you can work with it if it's made with synthetic fibers, otherwise tape tightly and cut with a SHARP knife. Just my .02 worth on the subject.
