So after hearing yesterday that the chains on toys were bad,i worked on my toys today.
Thankfully i bought some too large parrot sized toys a year ago since they were in sale.
But they never were played with ,probably of their size.
So i harvested those toys for parts ,i had a whole box of wooden blocks and about 4 meters of cotton rope.
So on some toys i put wooden blocks on the chains and by some i changed it for cotton rope.
The foraging toys were the difficult.
I actually didn´t want to change it,but the chains ran through the cups and all so i changed it for nice green cotton rope.
These are the toys that had chains ,i do have a few more but i am going to order leather strips for those.

Here's the thing with cotton rope, if they start to fray, get rid of it. Birds have the tendency to not leave the fray part alone and they will keep picking on it to shred it. I had to cut the rope strings off my bird's legs one day as I can home to him tied up by the strings.

GREAT job making all those toys! Very well done!!! :D

Michael is right about the cotton. Just keep an eye out, and if you see it's beginning to fray, keep cutting it shorter.

I personally love working with natural sisal rope. It can be hard on the fingers/hands when I make toys, but it doesn't fray, it breaks instead. ;)

i will be keeping my eye on fraying.
I did go to the shops after work and found some sisal ,but it smelled really chemical.
So i figured that this was the lesser evil.

I have to be super careful with my greys. They like to pull out strips and chew them for hours. I have to remove them today since I can't be sure if they're swallowing them or not.

Where can I buy sisal rope? My Quaker is obsessed with chewing on the cotton rope. I watch him pretty carefully and he does spit it out. But I'd like to give sisal a try.
