So I finally (almost) finished Lizzy's hanging playgym!

I got the info from this thread and modified it a bit to suit me :) (gotta give credit where credit is due!)

I'm still gonna add some more rope perches. Currently fighting with a particularly stubborn knot on a rope dog toy. Plus it's a hanging play gym so it needs to be, well... hung! And then below it I'm going to attach a platform/tray to catch and food and waste that way I won't get the carpet as messy. I'll post a picture of the finished project when I'm done :) with Lizzy on it instead of a blurry cat in the background =P this is my first really big DIY for Lizzy :)

That's awesome! I work with PVC all day. I think I'll make one. Did you use 3/4" pipe?

Yep!

20 ft of 3/4 PVC
Here's a pic of the dimensions from the original post
View attachment 11049

8 PVC elbows
8 T joints
30ft of plastic chain
4 stainless steel shackles (attached to the PVC to attach the chain to)
2 hooks and anchors to attach to the ceiling

I also cut two of the top 12" in half and added 2 more Ts so I could put a dowel rod across the top. I used vet wrap and saisal (not sure if I spelled that right) rope for grip. I recommend wrapping every exposed PVC piece. I left the Ts plain thinking it would be ok because she could step over them... She slipped and got scared and refused to cross until I put the rope on it and showed her it was safe.

And I'm going to buy a plastic tray (like the kind you use at the bottom of dog crates) to hang underneath to catch poop and food. So I modified it a little from what's in the picture, but that's the fun of DIY :)

Really nice! The flat and wide shape is different, in a good way. I bet she loves the horizontal space. Good job : )
