Wasn't sure if this would be in the DIY or Off Topic forum. Apologies ahead of time if I placed it wrong.

So a few nights ago my cat Luna decided she wanted to play on Lizzy new hanging play gym too. So she jump on it -_- thankfully Lizzy was already in her cage for bed time and Luna wasn't heavy enough to rip it out of the ceiling. But I would rather this not happen again. So I'm trying to think of some solutions.

At the moment we're taking the gym down whenever we leave or go to bed. And Luna knows enough to stay away from it when we're home. Lizzy is never left unsupervised btw.

We have a small square mat (12x12) that has plastic prongs on one side that we keep on top of the snake cage. It's specifically made to deter cats from certain places and it works wonders for where it is. I was thinking of getting an office floor mat, the kind you put under chairs to protect hardwood/carpet, but turn it upside down under the playgym (Lizzy wouldn't be able to reach it) so the prongs are up. If I get a big enough size I can create a large enough area where Luna will be too far away to jump up. However, all of the ones I can find are either too small for my purposes, don't have the prongs, or are well over $100.

Does anyone know where I can find cheap ones? Or something I can make myself for a similar effect?

Already tried laying down aluminum foil thinking the noise would scare her. She loved it instead....

Have you looked at any second-hand stores? Maybe goodwill or some place like that might have one.

Aww bummer!!!

Maybe get some contact paper -it's more plastic than paper, but slightly sticky on one side...lay it sticky side up and tape the edges to the floor. You can pick it up at the dollar store...maybe she won't like the stickiness?? Lol

They have runners at Home Depot like that that you can have cut to fit. We got some for our couches to keep the cats off, but the cats love those sharp points and sleep on it now:(

I use that clear plastic "carpet protector" that you can find at Home Depot in a roll. They're usually around a couple feet in width, but you just cut off and buy the length you want.
Use a couple sheets of it to make more width if you need. I haven't priced it lately, but I believe it's sold by the foot or yard, and it's not what you'd call expensive.

Edit: It might be what Terry is taking about?

That's exactly what I was talking about, Julie! Great minds think alike, although your example was much clearer than mine:)
