I couldn't help myself. The breeder gave me Fozzie's eggshell while I was there because I had dreams of faux bronzing it. Then I was afraid of breaking it, so I made a little bronzed nest display instead for it. :D

It still needs a name/hatch date plate made, but I need to make a trip to Hobby Lobby first.

Wow, what an idea! :) It is very unique! I think it would hold up to spraying. How do you faux bronze? Does it involve rubbing it on by hand? I was thinking a nice even coat of metallic bronze spray paint.

That is absolutely a fantastic display! If you do bronze it, it will be kind of like baby shoes that were bronzed. Julie's idea of painting it sounds like it would work as well. That is so cool that you were able to get Fozzie's egg:) It looks awesome just white, too.

TY! For the faux bronze look I tried different things on a chicken egg that I already have here at home: Pearl-Ex, Pearl-Ex in a lacquer, metallic paint... None of them looked quite right. Either the coverage wasn't full enough or it just looked too painted for my taste. I believe a bronze spray paint would work great, but that I don't have. I think I'm just going to keep the egg white though. I like the contrast. Besides, I already glued it to the stand. :p

The nest is just made from black polymer clay with antique bronze Pearl-Ex brushed on before baking. Oh and the clear display is a golf ball display case.

What a wonderful display! I love it! And it's a nice idea for the breeder to give those interested in keeping it their birds eggshell.
