I'm sure many of you either own or have seen these foraging boxes around. I decided to get this one a while ago when I saw it on a deep discount at the store for $7. I wasn't too sure that my birds (not being big foragers) would like this, but I thought what the heck for that price I'll try it.

It was originally filled with colorful wooden blocks of different shapes. Not even so much as a glance at it no matter where I hung it. Today as I was going through and re-organizing my bird toy making box, I found this again, and decided to put a rubber duck, some porcupine balls, and a green marble bead in it. Maybe even treats to spark interest. We'll see how it goes.

I thought it came out pretty cute anyway :)

I also couldn't resist buying this one. I thought the frog was adorable!

Raven and Robin may not show foraging interest, but that busy beak Griffin may;) Don't forget Twigs either! He seems like a mischievous little thing (I think the naughty ones are the best foragers personally). Looks like he likes the froggie if nothing else:D I'm glad you're trying some toys to forage in the treasure chest. Treats aren't the only fun things to get at:)

Griffin is definitely a "busy beak"! As far as foraging he does give up if it's not easy enough though. I've never seen a Budgie forage, but I'm sure I can make something small for Twigs. Good idea :)

That's awesome! Good job! We have that for Zoe. I'm pretty sure she's managed to get all the blocks out and lose them.

So cute!!! Griffin is really digging it. I love his colors. He wants the fuzzy ball in there lol

Real cute with the duck. I bought the same box at Walmart for $8 neither of my birds would go near it . Maybe I'll try your idea and see if there is any interest. Thanks for sharing. Bonita :rainbow1:

The ducks are cute aren't they? The birds like those, so I thought I'd try it. I folded it up and squished it through the hole lol.

Thanks everyone.

Success! :)
Today Griffin managed to get the green bead out of the container. If you look closely in the first pic, you will see a clear light green bead (same color as the container) off to the right side.

This is really something, since my birds aren't big foragers. If it's not real easy they'll give up fast. Griffin is the most active, so is the most adept at it, even still - manipulating the container to get the bead out demonstrated a higher level of foraging talent than I'd ever seen before from Griffin or anyone. Robin is completely disinterested in forging. He's more of a 'sit in one spot and chew for hours' sort of guy.

Generally speaking though, most foraging items are just stared at for a minute, then left alone by the guys. This was exciting to see! Too bad I didn't catch a video.
