Costume contest! Decisions, decisions! Pic heavy

Choosing a costume for Halloween can be tricky. The darn things never fit right and the selection for feathered kids is just sad. This is how Popeye's first costume fitting went.

Hmmm! What do I want to be for Halloween?

If I can get the darn thing on...

What do you think?

Nope, not really my color!

Now my feathers are in a twist, itchy costume!

So maybe this one...

What do you mean they didn't have my size?
Well, how do I look?

Shut up, Harry! Where's your costume? I see you over there hiding behind your toys!

Hey Popeye, if you aren't going to wear this, can I have it?

It doesn't actually fit! Do you mind if I just eat it?

So that's it for the first try outs, maybe they need more wardrobe choices!

Allee, the pics and commentary are fantastic!
I love Poppy in both the clown/jester neckwear as well as the sombrero, even if it is a little big

And I agree, Sweet Pea definitely needs a hat to fit that precious head

I am looking forward to seeing Harry in one, once you wash the blood from your fingers off of it once it is on her

I actually make shredder toys out of those craft store mexican hats...

My RFM and my CAG particularly love to tear those things to bits.

Never even considered putting in on one of their heads...

(Pretty sure my CAG would tell me "OWWW! THAT HURTS!" if I tried.)

Mine don't even do harnesses anymore. There's NO WAY they'd sit still for a costume!

Thanks April, Popeye is a sweetie. The cute little cockatiel is Sweet Pea. Harry is a female quaker that shares a room with Popeye. She HATES anything new, so she hid while Popeye was trying on outfits. She was making very rude comments while she watched.

These are great! I like the sombrero, get some little maracas to hang from his neck, lol!!! Buddy won't let me close to put anything on so he will be the loud parrot (himself), saying Hello at the door while the pug pirates and giant bulldog lobster great the kids too, lol. What else are you going to try?

I'm still thinking, Lol! I have a Yorkie, a Golden and a Border Collie too. Popeye had so much fun, I have to let him play dress up again. I would love to put a witch's hat on hateful little Harry (quaker) but she'd probably make ME wear it. I love your bulldog lobster. Can't wait to see the pug pirates.

Well we are torn about the lobster. My husband loves alligators and I told him if I could find a stuffed alligator that was big enough to wear, I'd make it a costume for Canelo. Well I found a 6 ft alligator at SAMs two days ago and husband now wants the alligator. I told him the problem is it's so long, he won't be able to move in it and talk about a bull in a china shop. Then of course we have to make it a Capt. hook theme and attach a hand to him lol!

Pea is doing fine. She is by far my quietest bird..lol. Although I know she can be the loudest if she wants to. I'm still watching and learning her body language. She is very good about letting anyone pet her head. Doesn't step up quite yet (well she did to hubby) but last night she got spooked and flew to a bookcase and she did step up to me to take her back to her cage, but I think only because she was scared. But that's ok...it's a start. I keep adding/changing toys to her cage because she is definitely an over-preener. She loves (and I mean LOVES:52

her toys! She positions herself so the toys are laying on her back or under her wing and many times when you go to pet her head, she turns around and lifts her wing..lol. We only pet her head and neck, but not sure how long she will be in this "mood". Can't believe we've had her over a month now! Thanks for asking! Someday I will have her trusting me enough to put costumes on her like you do with handsome Popeye!
