Galah - Nigel
Hey, if any of you keep your fids feathers, what do you do with them? I've been keeping Nigel's for a while now and my mum suggested a scrap book but I wanted to see if there is anything more interesting.

Thanks :white1::D

My mom has a huge trash bag full (3 parrots for almost 40 years will do that!). She doesn't know what to do with them.

I just stick Kiwi's in a very small vase. When they get ratty, I toss them and replace them (when he molts them out of course!).

I paint them, but you can sell them - you'd be surprised at how many people need/use parrot feathers :)

I never used to save feathers until recently. I've seen pics of a picture frame with the feathers arranged in designs behind the glass, along with the parrots name, and a photo of the parrot. I thought it was a nice idea. I don't know when I'll ever do anything with it though.

Just started this a couple of weeks ago, as you can see I still need more feathers. My birds have decided to hang onto the ones that I need!:) There are macaw, african grey, irn, quaker, eclectus, sun conure, gcc, amazon, senegal, peacock, turkey and goose feathers on there. My Dad is planning on framing it for me and a friend is interested in buying it if I decide to sell....... I've had so much fun saving feathers and seeing all of my birds contributing!

Pritti (Cherry-Head Conure) -- Fly in Peace my beautiful boy. Forever I'll love you.
@FeatherFriends - That's beautiful and very clever. It looks like mixed media paint. Can't wait to see the finished piece.

@Becky. You can also make jewelry pretty easily, or if you like crafts, you'll find lots of ideas if you google search crafting with feathers, feather crafts, etc. Here's a picture of my beloved Pritti's feathers that I added to a piece of woodsy wall art. Whenever I picked one up, I just stuck it in to the band tied around the bark.

What a neat idea! A "painting" with feathers! I can't wait to see it finished.

KC that's beautiful! :)

A friend of mine kept feathers and got a multiframed picture frame, framed the feathers, and then put a professional photograph in of the bird the feathers were from. It's really adorable and well done! I personally love the idea and plan to do it myself :)
