I guess I just couldn't resist all those adorable forum birds who did wear hoodies, I decided to ruin Kiwi's day and make him one too(and he kept shooting me dirty looks, he knew what was coming lol). Well, I did manage to get the hoodie made, but king of winging it with size didn't work out. It was too big and too long. Made for some absolutely HILARIOUS photos of his "fitting" last night;) I do need some help though from those who own these for similar sized birds to Kiwi so I can get this altered to fit:

Can anyone tell me what the hoodie measures from neckline to hem and how long it measures across the bottom?

Now the funny part (and he was surprisingly accepting and probably would have work it if he hadn't been tripping over it!)

BAHAHAHAHA!!!! I laughed SO hard @ "I decided to ruin Kiwi's day and make him one too(and he kept shooting me dirty looks, he knew what was coming"......

The photos are TOO cute, April! Was he trying really hard to get it off? :D

You are SO talented with the sewing machine! LOVE the hoodie!!! :smile015:

He's such a good boy, letting you put that on him. My girl would scream and eat me alive if I tried that on her. That second photo's a scream: the hood goes on the BACK of your head, Kiwi :D

Actually, I think he would have worn it had it been the right size. Surprise surprise he seemed to have few issues with us putting it on him (perhaps at some point he wore a harness???).

BUT it was so long on him and loose, he kept tripping and resorted to rolling around and kicking his little feetsies instead. We were both busting up laughing. He seems to be having fun rolling around at least? .

I just KNEW you'd make a custom one yourself (with your sewing talents)! I love the moose print and the red inside the hood.

It's surprising sometimes who accepts wearing things and who doesn't. I once had a bird who didn't like hands touching her, yet she took right to the harness with no practice at all.
On the other hand, Robin is extremely cuddly with hands, yet he freaks out at the very sight of a harness or anything near his body. You never know, they're all different. I'm glad it worked out with Kiwi!! :) I can't wait to see pics with him wearing it after it's been sized!

HAHAHA! I burst out laughing as well. I LOVE those pictures of him in it. You are so absolutely talented with sewing! I wish I could manage to do that. I can hardly sew a button back onto my jacket properly...

And it's awesome that Kiwi was so willing to just let you put the hoodie on him, especially for our amusement! I can't wait until you have the proper measurements for him to make one that fits. I'm eagerly anticipating the photos!

I think I may have to have my husband measure him. I used this "life-size" macaw toy we have to make the pattern, and thats where I went wrong. The hoodie fits the toy snugly, which i thought would make it fit Kiwi comfortably, but I guess I didn't realize how much smaller Kiwi actually is! It's relatively easy to make them at least. And I think Kiwi seeing the "macaw" being "dressed" and "rewarded" may give him a better idea what we're doing and that it's not going to hurt him (we've used the "macaw" before to teach Kiwi things since it always behaves and holds still lol).

Edit: It was WAYYYYY too big:eek: Kiwi measures a little over 11.5" around the body and 3" from the bottom of his neck to the top of his legs... I had made it about 15" wide and about 4.5" tall:52: Poor little guy, no wonder he couldn't stand up:D Joe insists I make him a more "manly" hoodie in a solid color too:rolleyes:

Those pics are adorable!! He was such a good sport.
I have to say Gilbert's hoodie fits well and he still attempts to put his feet in the front of it to pull it off. And when the hood is up he rolls around. If I roll the hood way down then he chills out. (He HATES the hood).

April, please give Kiwi extra skritches from all his admirers for being such a great sport. He is such a good boy! Those photos are so cute!

Very cute hoodie and I like the colors and the moose. Very manly hoodie.

If everyone keeps posting these adorable parrots wearing jackets I will be forced to get one for Popeye. He loves costumes.

LOL poor Kiwi...it is not my fault Kiwi:54: I'm glad he didn't give you too hard of a time.

These are the directions for measuring that the site gives.

How do I measure my bird?

Measure around the whole bird (the girth) at the fattest part, but don’t include the wings in the measurement (so go all the way around, but under the wings).

Measure from the nape of the neck to where the tail feathers begin on the body.

My hoodie measures...I didn't measure Kelly just the hoodie:)

LOL!!! I don't think I could get Buddy in a hoody, it would mean several days of no forgiveness from Buddy. Nice hoody and I must agree your sewing skills are fantastic!
