Can a beefy amazon fit through a 3" gap?

Making a little "knock down" PVC pen to go around Kiwi's cage *similar* to this-

Need to plan for how to space the bars. I'll be using 3/4" PVC pipe. I'm thinking 3" gaps would be too narrow for the whole bird to fit through but wide enough he couldn't get his head stuck, but I wanted some opinions.

Remember how we were amazed when I said how Twigs and Pix (budgies) squeezed their ENTIRE BODY THROUGH 1" bars?!!. I know we're talking about a large Amazon here ;), but that makes me think birds can wedge through (or get stuck in) smaller spaces than we might think? Not sure of a spacing suggestion though. I'm sure others will have a better idea than I do on that :)

I know mine would try to squeeze through 3" gaps. No way the head can get stuck, no, but perhaps the entire Kiwi (sideways????)

Sometimes I think all those fluffy feathers make our fids look a little larger than they really are--like if you saw them "dinosaur style" you'd go "darn that's a skinny bird!" I remember reading that if they can put their head through without it hitting their eyes, then they can probably get stuck, but I don't know if that's helpful at all since you're look at the body size!

Perhaps I will look into plexiglass or thick vinyl sides instead of bars. I just want a barrier I can quickly set up around his cage when I leave the house so he can't get down and "explore".

I don't think he can climb a 3/4" thick "pole" on a 20" high barrier. Though the more I think, the more I feel heavy-guage vinyl will be the best solution (slick sides).
