Hi everyone... It's been quite a while since I posted new pics of the flock! For those who haven't met us yet, I'll introduce the boys... Bronze Winged Pionus (Raven), Red Bellied Parrot (Robin), Ruppell's Parrot (Griffin), and 2 English Budgies (female and male - Mink and Chip).

So after a little home emergency, the bird room has been moved into another bedroom. Freshly cleaned, painted, and all set up now. I just did most of the finishing touches (installing hanging gyms) a couple days ago. I can still add more and change it around a bit, but we'll see. I'm happy with the way it came out :). The walls in the pic 'look' mint green like I wanted.. but in reality it is a little darker and bluer than I wanted, but oh well, I still think it looks great for the the birds.

Since now there are 5 birds in here of different species and sizes who all need their out of cage time, it's a real pain having to let everyone out in shifts and cover cages, and it means less time out for everyone, but I have to do it to keep the ones safe who don't get along.

This was all inexpensive... I already had all the hanging stuff and ceiling disks, brand new window blinds I had for years but found it in the closet, and it was perfect! Paint was about 1/2 the price as expected too. Behr 'one coat coverage'. No voc, very low odor. The birds moved in the next day soon as it was dry.

Here is a shot looking toward the back of the room. 'Self-centered' Bronze Winged Pionus parrot Raven in the foreground is modeling his favorite hanging swing, and he thinks this pic is all about 'him' of course!

Griffin is modeling the re-vamped boing.

The set up by the window. Stand, hanging coconuts, and Jolly Ball...

Perch with hanging ladder

At the ends of the perch I drilled holes and installed hooks with stainless steel bell toys.

This part isn't new, but I wanted to show the top of Raven's and Griffin's cages. These huts, the boys like to use as toy boxes. They don't like to stay inside them.

This is Griffin's frog themed top of cage set up. Perfect for him... he not only flies, but leaps everywhere like a little frog ;)

Griffin assumes he's entitled to dad's cereal.. he flew onto the bowl.

Raven and Griffin are best friends. Raven 'was' such a trustworthy good bird, but over time, has gotten more influenced from his smaller, but more outgoing and up-to-no-good buddy, who always tries to encourage Raven to 'try new things' which Raven would never do on his own. Things which aren't necessarily good..

My most precious companion animal ever... 22 year old Red Bellied Parrot, Robin cuddling with dad :). I've had him since he was 3 months old. I'm not sure yet what I will install above his cage for his play gym. He is the only one with a dome top style cage so it limits possibilities.

I lovelovelove it!
It's bright, open, easy to clean and move around in.
Your handiwork is so inventive and functional. I particularly like the stainless bells. May I ask where they're from?
I had never learned much about Bronze Wings. Their colors are just striking, and they're BIGGG. Raven is a show-stopper. I have a bird-crush on him.

Thanks for the photos of your wonderful bird room! Very inspiring. It looks great, so many toys, perches and activities and places to hang out! If I was a parrot I would definitely want to live with you :D

Thanks Gail :). I got the bells from a local bird toy and supply shop (they don't sell birds). The large one I got a number of years ago, and the shop owner says she cannot get those anymore :(. The little cowbell style one came from the same shop in a pack of 3, but I haven't seen those for a long time either. Single SS bells are definitely a hard to find item.

Thank you ;) I love Raven's colors too. Bronze Winged, especially males (and some Maximilians), seem to be bigger than most Pionus. When I saw an adult Blue Headed, I said "oh how cute, he's so small" and the owner said he's normal sized lol.

Thanks for the kind comments :). I'd love to hang something else horizontal on the ceiling, like a cargo net maybe. It's getting cramped in here, but still room for other possibilities and changes. We'll see..

Great, yet another Thread I am going to have to block my Amazon from seeing!!!

The neat thing about being me! No one asks me about my opinion on the color. Looks Greenish to me, kind of, maybe! :D

Well done! Major Parrot Forum Envy Starting. Soon, you will be getting remodeling requests sign with a Parrot shaped foot mark at the bottom of the paper!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Beautiful Julie, absolutely stunning! Everything is so nice and fresh, great choice of color! Having a plastic barrier between the ceiling and hanging toys is terrific to prevent "nibbling."

The only improvement would be in the birds attitudes so you wouldn't have the added stress and complication of cycling them in and out. :(

Thanks for the update, things are looking up!!

Ahhh, well, thanks anyway. My search for safe, stainless bells continues.

Raven is gorgeous. If you have any photos of him in the sun, I bet we'd love to see one.

FYI: I believe you have a 'Y' perch screwed directly into the wall. It would be very wise to place a plastic or wood wall protector! Two reasons: First is easy, keeps beaks from cutting holes in the drywall. Second is that some 'older' drywall boards are toxic. If memory holds, I think it was lead deposits in some mines. no need to tear everything down and start over, just provide a protector between the wall and the Parrot.

Julie, fantastic, what a busy girl you have been. Loved all the pics, plenty of oohing and ahing at your flock, your two likely (to get into mischief) lads bring a smile. Thank you for sharing, it all looks very nice.

Don't let my flock see this. They'll be demanding better quarters if they do!

Seriously, I'm a bit jealous.

It's beautiful from floor to ceiling, Julie! I can see a lot of hard work and attention to detail went into the project! I know it feels wonderful to have it finished and see your flock enjoy their very own room. I'm happy to see things are looking brighter for you.

Thanks Steven! But one would not be envious if they saw the part of the room I didn't show... the part with my bed and dresser in it haha :D. Don has to sleep in a different room. There's only room for my birds and me in here :18:.

Thank you Scott, we haven't repaired the old room yet, but this one I'm happy with. I wish the birds could all be a flock. Trust me, it is a major pain, and everyone gets less out of cage time because of it. So sad lol. At least they have a ton of toys in their cages.

Ahhh, well, thanks anyway. My search for safe, stainless bells continues.

Raven is gorgeous. If you have any photos of him in the sun, I bet we'd love to see one.

I know, I too wish more were out there. There's the pipe bells of course, but they need SS little ones too. The ones I have are made thick and strong too. Too bad I didn't get more at the time.

I'll see what I can do about new pics soon ;). He needs a bath first for sure!

Thanks for mentioning a wall protector. I didn't even think of that. Although the boys aren't voracious chewers, I can't put it past Griffin. If there is any trouble to get into or destruction to be made, it would be him! No one has even looked at that perch yet.

The new room looks great, Julie! I love the colour!

Thanks Terry :). Funny about the color.. In real life it's darker than it looks, and more blue-green. I much prefer the way it looks in pics. How in the heck did it get so "off" don't ask lol. Oh well. When we get to doing the damaged room, I'll be sure to be more careful to get the exact color I was going for!

Thank you K, I'm glad you liked looking at the pics :). They make me smile and laugh at their cuteness daily, but they also make me cringe, give me a headache, keep me on my toes :D.

Don't let my flock see this. They'll be demanding better quarters if they do!

Seriously, I'm a bit jealous.

Beatrice, my flock is jealous that your flock gets to be out more :). Are ya jealous of my twin size bed too?? Hahahaha, seriously.. It was all that would fit into this smaller room with the 3 parrot cages, giant budgie flight and huge dresser! I'm getting used to it. I'd like to get a full size (16" wider) but then even less floor space. I'm still keeping some of my bedroom stuff in another room. I do like being in the same place as my birds during the night.

Beautiful! SO beautiful! Every bird is going to be jealous of your flock.

Thank you Chantal! The birds are loving it. Griffin is starting to ignore my voice commands to go back in his cage. It takes a while nowdays, whereas before it was no problem. He can't get enough of zipping back and forth and landing on all the hanging things (as well as Robin's and budgies' covered cages which are off limits).

It's beautiful from floor to ceiling, Julie! I can see a lot of hard work and attention to detail went into the project! I know it feels wonderful to have it finished and see your flock enjoy their very own room. I'm happy to see things are looking brighter for you.

Thanks Allee! Well maybe the actual floor and ceiling aren't too pretty LOL! But I am happy with how this room came out. Even happier with how little money was spent to transform it from a spare junk room to this. I already had the new window blinds in the closet, and all the hanging toys. The room had linoleum which is still okay, but I'm looking for a rug for the center area.

Julie that's so wonderful. Quite a paradise you've built in there. Hopefully my birdroom could look half as good once I start developing it :)
