A lot of my parrots’ “destroy toys” from the pet store have a kind of tissue paper in them. Is it safe to create toys with store bought tissue paper (I.e. the stuff you use in gift bags)? I have a whole bunch of colours and want to make something special for them to, well, destroy haha.

I am not aware of any issues with tissue paper LOL. Stick to non coloured though IMO. If they just want to destroy it rather than eat it then all OK.

I was watching Flock-talk on YT last night and they provided a few fun foraging ideas using items you can find at home! I'm looking forwards to trying them :) This is the video

Totally safe :) I chuck in a toilet roll occasionally filled with hidden sunflower seeds. Needless to say there is a huge mess afterwards. Lol

Tissue paper seems OK to me, and plumsmum is right, use your gut when it comes to brightly coloured paper. If you can find colourless paper that's better.

I shred newspaper for my compost bin, and occasionally when I have a bit left over I shove that into Remi's toys too, as well as the toilet rolls like kvaness does. Basically if it's pulled out or chewed on it's been put to use so it's worth it. It makes a crap-tonne of mess but so would destroying all my stuff I s'pose.
