So, I'm a huge dork and am making fancy new toys for everyone to celebrate when the baby gets out of quarantine and moves upstairs. I have paper party hats I'm going to stuff with interesting and tasty things, little paper popcorn bags I will do same with. Crinkled paper, bits of balsa wood, freeze dried peas, carob chips, the list goes on. 'Sgonna be great. But Fatty is a huuuuge bell fan and I don't have a bird safe source for them. :(

Anyone know where to get safe bells? Small enough for a budgie to wear as a hat would be ideal.... Fatty is a funny little dude and has an odd sense of fashion.

Hi. So what you are looking for are tubular stainless steel bells. The problem is going to be finding one that is small enough so it does not pose a danger to ol' Fatty. THis in is 3" long nd 1" in dia, about the smallest one I could find with some Google searching. THat might be ok for him. Salty LOVES his bell, a 4" by 1-1/4" one. Its the only toy that never gets replaced and is always played with at least once a day, some day thats all he plays with.

Here is one a bit smaller , with a 3/4" diameter, I think that might be better sized.

Key feature on good quality parrot bells is all welded construction, even the chain links.
Make sure its really stainless steel and not chrome plated, they look similar, but stainless is non-magnetic, so a magnet will not stick to the bell body. Hope Fatty likes his just as much as Salty likes his. We gave one to the Rickeybird, and he loves his so much Gail has to put it away some times, for peace of mind!

Have the small one in my ebay cart now, thanks!

How about the jingle bell type ones? I know there is some controversy over them, but Fatty is not a chewer, and mostly sticks his face in them and talks to himself.
