1. first, to get all kinds of little components. all of my materials are from chinese eBay. i think you guys can use whatever you can find in this way.

2. use a drill hammer to drill every piece of wood you want to add in your toy. you can drill in different angles to keep your toy interesting.

3. use edible pigments to dye your materials. i purchased yellow, red and blue. then made orange and green my own. you can try other colours as well.

4. air dry your components. sometimes you need to repeat step 3 several times to make sure your colour is bright and wonderful. if you want to be quick, you may also use a hair drier to help you.

5. use a wood stick and iron wire to string your materials together. put some little bells on it to make it fun.

I love the colours you achieved! Your toys look amazing. You are using Stainless Steel wire for them?

Really nice! Great imagination! A few issues though, that carabiner poses an entrapment threat, and those style bells can be dangerous too! The square wire that they are hanging from can easily trap your baby’s head!
Keep an eye on the shelf bracket, hopefully they don’t mess with it!
You should switch to stainless for all the metal parts!

For the food dye, some folks say they have better results using rubbing alcohol as a base.

Great points about the carabiner, bell clappers, and the square wire. Good eye, David. Doesn't take away from the great overall design, but it's always good when someone might catch a potential safety hazard that we might have missed. A community of eyes beats a pair, right?

Cairo the Ekkie!
Hey! By Chinese eBay, do you mean TaoBao? I'm in Singapore, and I've been buying Cairo's things from there (cheaper and more options than buying locally). Are there any shops there or on Tmall that you recommend - both for toys and are other equipment?
