Is there such a thing, or when people build PVC stands they don't bother. I built my first on the weekend, as simple inverted U perch for our CAG. It stable, but when I build something more elaborate, I'm worried about it coming apart.

Cheers!

Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
Since the glue goes in places the parrot will nog be able to get to- why worry?

Just make sure it is completely hardend (not releasing any type of fumes) before placing it anywhere near the bird.

Some joints you glue, some you do not for easy disassembling and cleaning.
(see the tutorial from Birdman666, he builds huge ones, so you can scale down or just copy)

The glue is death when wet, safe when dry! I will often lay something over the end of the piece before jamming the fitting on, this makes it very tight!

Thanks guys. I'll leave my little table stand as is, but take your advise when I build something bigger.

Cheers!

PVC glue isnt really glue that hardens and fills the void. Its a solvent that disolves the plastic making it soft while youm mate the two peices untill the solvent evaporates and they fuse together. Once the solvent has evaporated, there is no toxic anything and its just the pvc. ACETONE and MEK will soften pvc and then evaporate afterwards. MEK is toxic, dont let the vapors near your bird, but once its done it should be safe.

I modified the first stand, and only stand I built. I added a bowl. A 3" end cap, that I glued with PVC glue to a threaded end cap. I was worried it wouldn't hold, but so far so good.

Cheers.
