Angus the parrot seized by RSPCA Inspectors
You may remember in late March, a video on YouTube appeared to feature a parrot named Angus hanging onto the windscreen wiper of a vehicle, while its owner travelled at 100km on a freeway. Our Inspectors were absolutely outraged by this incident and have been working tirelessly to locate Angus and his owner since this time.

We are very pleased to let everyone know that only hours ago, our Inspectorate seized Angus the parrot, with the assistance of the Victoria Police. Angus is now in the care of the RSPCA and while our Inspectors continue their investigations, we will be ensuring Angus receives the spe******ed care and attention he needs.

We will share more information about our investigation and Angus as this is available. Thank you to everyone who has been supportive of our Inspectors while they have been trying to locate Angus!

Wow... this is all news to me. I just looked up the video on Youtube - absolutey horrible! I really hope that Angus was not released back to that owner. This is so sad

Well, that's terrible news. Anyone who thought that was a good thing to do with him is an absolute idiot, and doesn't deserve to have anything under their care. I hope this moron doesn't have children.

I was so pleased that Angus was reunited with his owner because the stress that poor bird went through at the RSPCA was clear, the condition he got his bird back in was worse than a ride on the windscreen. Besides the media here in OZ tend to blow things out of proportion most of the time. I also think to many people jump to conclusions as well.

FWIW I know people that ride around with their pet birds on the handle bars of their motor bikes. The kid down the road from me takes his Alexandrine for rides on his BMX bike. The bird actually loves it.

Maybe that was a stupid thing that Justin did with Angus but does he love his bird any more than we do. My guess if he didn't he wouldn't have fought so hard to get him back.

Well, IMO if he truly was driving 100kmh (60mph) with the bird out there, that is a crime, and he doesn't deserve to get it back. Riding on the handlebars of a bicycle is a whole different ballgame. As for motorcycles, well, I ride one as well, but I would not put my birds on the handlebars even with the big windshield and ride that fast. Would I consider taking them for a little, slow ride? Maybe.

The media may blow things out of proportion, but the video speaks for itself! I think it's appalling that this poor parrot was returned to such a negligent, abusive owner. A bicycle ride on a handlebar is not even close to having to hold on for dear life to a windshield wiper at 60mph! What sickens me, is that the owner clearly took pleasure in watching Angus suffer!

Ok Angus don't belong to either side if he got the bird back in poor health. I personally think it is cruel to allow your bird to hang on for life while your flying down the highway. What if he freaks and let go? IF he can't fly, a big chance he would be killed by another driver. It's common sense, will you do that with your bird/pets/child?

Even if he could fly he still could be hit with a stone or some other debris. As a motorcyclist I can tell that being hit with a piece of gravel at 60mph isn't fun even with a helmet and protective leather gear on. And I've had windshields cracked on my cars/trucks from gravel. I believe that would probably kill a bird.

Here I am worried over Emmett and stressing him out over a little bit of travel. What Angus has endured is unimaginable in my world. Angus would have assimilated just fine into a new home. Anyone who would think that Angus would be better off with that horrid man should rethink this love of the avian species.

It was clear after some time that Angus did not do well without the owner he loved... The owner realised his mistake, and probably won't do anything to risk losing his bird again...
