My baby came from a breeder that used seeds & pellets with some veggies & fruits. I'm trying to switch him over to veggies & fruits but it seems like the only thing he likes is corn & snap peas, he takes a bite out of everything and then drops it to the floor. Any suggestions on how to get him away from these darn seeds & pellets?

i don't know if this will work but just try taking away the seeds and pellets gradually. like you have the old mix and put some of the new food in then you put more of the new food in then a bit more then finally you've completely swapped over.

I wouldn't take pellets if he likes them. Pellets are good for parrots. And are very helpful when you go away for more than a few hours during the day. Fruits and veggies should be taken out of the cage after a couple hours or they may spoil. Pellets are a great back up.

We made the switch gradually adding a little more fruits and veggies everyday and eating them with him so he learned they were tasty good things to eat. Pellets should be no more than 30% of his diet so only use them when neccessary and make sure they are a good quality pellet like Harrisons which is completely organic or a zupreem mix that doesnt use artifical colors in the pellets. My vet said eclectus parrots were really sensitive to the artifical colorings for some reason. And remember variety is your friend give him something new everyday not just the stuff he likes. :) hope that helps.

Also you can try making birdie bread and cutting it into a small pellet like shape... they have recipes in one of the forums on the main page but I personally use jiffy corn bread mix follow the instructions on the box but add some brocolli and carrots, peas and stuff he normally wouldn't eat in very small amounts and very small in size.

That Pellets thing you know does not apply to Eclectus! Pellets actually does more harm to them!!!

This is what my pair ate for lunch today, watermelon, cantaloupe, broccoli, celery, green beans, carrots, tomatoes, kiwi, grapes, and apples.
