Hello everyone!

Sushi is really starting to warm-up to us, so I've been thinking of how to take it to the next level. Is there any thing that would help the process continue other then just holding her? I would really love for her to snuggle & talk in front of us, not to mention get in her harness so we can take her to the park for picnics. By the way, her appetite has improved drastically! She eats more then we have ever seen her do before

yeah she is getting more comfortable/happy so eating more!

well how fast is she at picking up new things? go at her speed

nothing wrong with simple training her to come when you call her name

as for harness sooner the better i think

watch her as some tricks she could do that come natural to her! like a turn around etc

We're trying the harness again tonight. It's been hanging by her cage for about a week now so hopefully she won't attack it when we try.

Hi, google "clicker training parrot". You don't have to use a clicker if you don't want to, any sound will do including "good bird!". It is the techniques that are important. You can check out TheParrotForum.com, that is run by a fellow that has been pretty successful in training his parrots, I find the articles and forum pretty useful.

Training is a really really good way to form a bond with your parrot. And its fun and useful too. The trifecta so to speak.

Oh she's a little flirt! He's tried putting it on, but we haven't had any luck yet. It's hanging in her cage right now, next to her food bowl, so maybe that'll help

I've been trying to get Bob in his harness for weeks. He still objects to the neck loop, but will allow it for short periods; he fights me when I try to put the wing loop on. It gets better day after day, and I think that he will calm down once it is on and I can take him outside.

I got this book a few years back when I was working at petsmart and it has a lot of really good stuff in it and it really focuses on honing in on what your bird is naturally good at doing and incorporating the clicker as positive reinforcement. It's called the click that does the trick. Oh and I forgot to add, that book also has a section on how to make props for some of the "fancier" tricks like basketball and bowling. I'm about 99% sure it's in that book, I have like two boxes full of bird books, unfortunately all of which are still in storage at the moment, but like I said, I'm pretty sure that's the one. There's a lot of good info online and videos on youtube as well, but I'm sure you already knew that lol.
