So.................I am getting Married! Not for ages yet but I am a qualified chef (in a past life) and wedding cakes go for $1000 plus here (i KNOW!! EXPENSIVE!) So i decided to make my own! I want a three teir extravagant thingy, so ive bought some fondant icing to practice making icing roses. Cant be that hard right?

Well, it is that hard, especially when you have a very spoiled parrot who is used to being included in EVERYTHING you do (its my own fault i know), who has probably ingested 1/2 his weight in fondant icing in the last day, and who has to get into EVERYTHING! He is totally white with the cornstarch i use to stop the icing going sticky from beak to tail, has run off with my bamboo skewers packet twice, and just generally made a nuisance of himself.

The thing that embarrasing is, he was obviously enjoying himself so much, indulgent parront that i am, just sorta went awww, isnt he cute, whilst he wreaked havoc across my living room!

disclaimer: once i discovered he was stealing icing i put it under lock and key =)

Why do we love them somuch? Im going to make an eclectus cake topper --- groaaan yes, im that obsessed..

Congrats, if you can't make the roses, try something else. I've seen beautiful cakes done w/fresh flowers on a elegant fondant icing base. There are alot of spray paint color safe for consumption, maybe a lace stencil w/a white on white motiff. I would love to try my hand @ the decorating. Lucky you have time b4 your wedding to "play". Also lucky that you have such a dedicated assistant to help out. lol
