My ekky is a red sided eclectus and still a young baby. I was just curious about the blue ring around the eyes. She doesn't really have one. You can just make it out at the top of one of her eyes, but I wonder will that blue ring grow in later? Thank you. :)

My female ekky is about 18 weeks old and when she's in the sun you can see her blue around her eyes.

Yeah I can see some of the blue around her eye but I'm just not sure if more will grow through after her first moult!

If your girl is going to develop her blue eye ring i would say that you will notice it more as she gets older.

As far as i know the pure New Guinea Eclectus hen lacks the blue eye ring.

Cool, Thanks Pedro. :) I'm sure she is a red-sided but its hard to be 100% sure.

When I went to pick up my Eclectus pair, the guy told me they were Red-sided. The moment I walked in to look at them, I knew right away they weren't. As they're pretty small compared to Red-sided. So I find out on my own they were Soloman Island. Did the place where you got her from not sure what she is?

Nah they told me she is a red-sided and she is quite big.
But in Australia when they were imported they bred the sub-species together so as far as it being a "pure" red-sided is not known, but her parents & grandparents where lol. :) Thats what the breeder told me lol.

Mylahs became more darker as she got older and we have been told she's a red-sided it wasn't really noticeable when she was younger
