Now you can take your bird for a walk
Take your bird where ever you go-picnics, biking, ball games, boating, skating, and more.
Developed with an avian veterinarian, the Bird Harness prevents the tragedy of fly-a-ways without the danger of leg trace injuries.
Let your feathered friend enjoy the wonder of the great outdoors along with you.
The Leash part is 1.5 meter long.

Great Present for Your Pet Lover Friend!
Please note the following information for consideration regarding the harness:
The harness should not be used unsupervised.
If your bird is somewhat difficult to handle, this may not be suitable.
Not to be used for discipline or restraint.
The Harness has a 270mm Diameter for the Body

(The size im going for is for an eccy but here are the pictures)

i don't really like that one, too many clips and stuff. i think that's quite distressing/uncomfortable for a bird. I recommend the aviator, failing that the feather tether. :)

I had thought about one of these for Macky, but Mac isn't one of those birds that like a lot of touching. He tollerates getting his head & neck scratched and even his belly, but that's about it.

I saw a video once with one of these harnesses put on a Cockatoo for the first time and he had a fit. He was literally hanging flopping around to the point the person had to put him on the ground and even then the bird continued to flop around badly. I felt so bad for the bird.

So I haved restrained myself from buying one. I would hate for it to scar Mac for life and ruin the bond that we have built. Now any time something happens like if he slips off a chair or something, he will immediately look for me to comfort him and I want to keep it that way.

Training a bird to accept harnessing is very difficult. You really have to start when they are very young. I have tried, and tried, with several birds. None of them would have it. If you can do it, make it fun for the bird by taking it outside and having fun. So it will associate the harness with going somewhere fun. My birds always made such a fuss, and seemed so distressed, that I have always given up. I tell myself that they have wings because they are destined to be free and untethered. A harness just doesn't fit into that equation. For safety sake, a harness is a great idea. But, some of my birds & I have built up such trust, that I can take them outside without restraint. Not advisable in most cases. And I have been able to do that with only a few of my many birds. They all have the freedom of free flight in my home, and we will all have to be happy with that!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. :) Audrey is still very young, only 5 months old, thats why I want to try and get her used to it now. Thanks for those links Pedro, I'll take a look at those websites! I did see an aviator one but they didn't have any medium size left !
