I'm getting a baby electus tomorrow - if all goes well...

It's a male and he's 10 weeks old.. I just can't wait, so today is shopping day to get hand rearing formula and everything else I might need...

Wish me luck, please...

Aw, hes so cute!
Have you ever handfed before? I would advise you to wait a little longer and let them finish the handfeeding, switching handfeeders can be very stressful on a baby and he might even stop eating.

Yes, I have handfed quite a few birds in my lifetime :) I have always used a bend spoon, and let the birds set the pace... He's already eating soft fruit and vegies...

He had a woman wanting to buy the whole family of eclectus... When she didn't turn up a promised (she didn't have all the money till Wednesday), he committed to selling the male baby to me... I got there 7:30 Saturday morning... The woman had called him back to say she would pick them all up at 8am Saturday...

I just wasn't sure, whether I was going to get this bird or not... But I did...

His name is Papi from the butterfly Papillon...

He's only 8 weeks and 2 days old, being the youngest of the three chicks...

He's full of dried food all over his feathers, and I don't know how to get it off him... He seems to feed very well, without much mess. He's due for another feed before bed.

Pictures coming..

These two were the only chicks he had (the oldest one was sold some days ago)... All the other birds were lovebirds... I don't doubt these chicks were well looked after... These private breeders are really great, because they care about their birds... They don't just go with a cropfeeder along the line, and say that the birds are hand reared...

He asked me a lot of questions about my experience with birds... He also told me some horrific stories of people saying they have all the experience and don't!

I'm now in two minds, whether I want to breed birds or not... How would you know?
