I was reading a thread somewhere on here the other day and a lot recommend Hot water with lemons in it.. and vinegar as an anti bacterial agent. leave the cloth on the mess in the cage for five mins to soften it then it should wipe easier. Hope that helps.

I like to use a 50/50 mixture of Hydrogen peroxide and water in a squirt bottle . It cleans really nicely and disinfects too.

I also use the f10 cleaner...heres a link F10 Disinfectant - New Low Pricing USA

The smallest one lasts a long time, it claims to be completely safe around birds...it has a nice clean fresh smell and it cleans well...also since u dont have to rinse it, it supposesly disinfects for longer, even after ur done cleaning.

I like using vinegar diluted with water and GSE. GSE can be purchased at almost any health food store, it's about $10 for a small bottle but a little goes a LONG way so it will last quite awhile.

I agree with RioMom - steam cleaners are AMAZING
They completely vaporize the worst baked on poop or messy eclectus wall splatters in seconds
Well worth the investment and no chemicals at all!

I also use this to wipe down counter tops. Very good. I think we use too many antibacterial products.

I use vinegar to clean just about EVERYTHING. With 9 rats, a green cheek and two small dogs.....we use a LOT of vinegar!!! LOL It's magic as far as I'm concerned. For big cleans where I take cages apart and soak, I use dawn dish soap, vinegar and hot, hot, hot water and soak. Then rinse very well and air dry - outside when the weather is nice. My cages look great - and even the cage that came with Buddy that I thought was seriously nasty cleaned up nice and practically new looking!
