Hi everybody, just picked up Scarlet today and she is gorgeous. We got home (it was a long car drive) loved on her for a few minutes each then put her in her new cage to rest. Is that right, I feel like I threw her aside as soon as she got here. I know she needs to rest as she has had a long day, I just need some reassurance that I am doing right I guess. Its been a while since I have had a baby. :red1:

Congrats. Yes it's hard when we bring them home and have to put them in the cage but like you said it was a long trip but if you have a seat near the cage just sit and talk to her. My kids think I'm a little silly I talk to mine telling them all about their new home and plans I have. And all the fun I have lined up in the days to come. But it gets them use to you and your voice and I cthink they understand every word I say lol.

i am the mom of three parrots:
Dorothy- African grey (cag)
Bowie- blue and gold macaw
Nellie- hyacinth macaw
Reggie- hyacinth macaw
Marnie- white bellied caique
I also think it is important to teach our babies to occupy themselves. It is so easy to be with them non-stop when they first come home only to realize that real life sets in and we can no longer keep up that kind of attention. It is such a hard thing to do when they first come home however I think letting her have some space is a good idea. You can spend time with her in the days to come, just make sure that she also learns to be alone. I followed this advice given to me by my breeder, it has worked so well. Some days I have loads of time for Dorothy and some days I am so busy however she just rolls with it! I am so jealous, I love eclectus! I would love one! PICTURES, please!!!

Hi Brian, Thanks for the help, that perch your grey is on, did you make that, can you send me pics of it. I love it. I have a baby grey coming home in a month. Im excited about both my babies. Any advice on keeping multiple parrots happy. I have had parrots, I lost my amazon , liked to have killed me (see bereavement page, My lil doodlebug-Nappy) I take all advice from everyone. So far I am learning so much from everyone on this site and everyone is so nice. Like ive been here for years.
PS How do you put an image on here???
