He has started growling at us quite a bit. First thing in the morning, I openup his cage, he comes over and growls especially when I put food in his bowl. Then any time he is riding with me and I put him on his cage or playstand, he will growl. He'll growl even when I walk by his cage. He's not nippy or bitey or any of that. But does seem to be a bit moody especially when we have to lock him up during the day when we both have to go out.

He's been to the vet a couple of weeks ago and all is good with him. He's turning 4 next month so I'm figuring hormonal. He's still chewing and bobbing off his feathers. So that habit is a work in progress.

UGHHH Im sorry. Our Nappy is 3 months and she is moody. She lunges but rarely bites, but she has brought blood on one occasion. I just posted about noticing a couple of feathers chewed off. I dont know what to do, I will be following this post as well. Good luck

Comparing Mac to a Bear LoL

It does sound cute when they make bear noises, glad you are being cautious.

Mishka used to growl just like a Lion (gee how our birds differ) LoL
When he began, I was also worried something is amiss.
I started telling him Lion and began growling like one.
He soon stopped growling..watch the video, sure to bring a smile to your face

Awww, Mishka is adorable. I am just trying so hard to get our lil bundle to like us. She has been with us a week yet still acts scared of us. I just dont know how long it will take her to accept us. I hope is soon.:(

Thank you for the lovely compliment... Mishka sends kisses

Give this a go

[FONT=&quot] A bird must have time to settle down and adjust. Just imagine how many new things the bird has encountered, in a week. So many new faces and voices, it must be so scary.
To gain your trust could take days, weeks, months even years. Each and every bird is so different. She obviously feels a comfort zone is her cage.
Sit near the cage, talking and singing to the bird. Let her become familiar with your voice. Leaving the cage door open, offer her treats through the bars at first. When she willingly accepts them, try placing a treat near the open door. Eventually she will starts taking the treats from the door, make no attempt to touch her. When she does come out, she will probably climb around on the cage. Let her explore in her own time. To get her back in, place a treat inside the cage, making sure it's visible.

Good luck

As birds learn all kinds of sounds... why should growling be different? If the growling is not associated with bites, I wouldn't worry... :p

I think birdie grows are funny but it is one of the ways they show emotions. Hope it passes quickly and you have Mac the lover back soon.
