New Eclectus - What Treats Do you Train?

Hello Again,

So I have had my new 5 month old Eclectus for 3 days now. And I have got him able to almost step-up on command every time, "come" for treat, and spin (clockwise) or counter spin (counter-clockwise) on command.

So far I have been using Millet for his rewards, his droppings are also fairly watery (which I believe means too many fruits and vegges)? But I was wondering what you all use for treats. Millet is fairly messy and... big?

Any recommendations for watery droppings? Everything else looks normal but fairly watery (am I not giving enough him of seeds and nuts, or certain vegge)? He is up to Strawberries, Grapes, Kiwis, Pinapple, and Corn.

I do not feed my Ekkie millet or seeds at all, and very limited nuts not even one a day. Seeds and nuts contain lots of fat and Ekkies are very suspectible to fatty liver disease. I feed pellets at all times plus fresh veggies and fruits 2 times a day. For treats in training I use raisins, Pieces of an almond or cheerios. If poop seems watery you need to get more fiber and bulk in the diet. Add fresh greens,brocoli, beets, carrots, green beans, brown rice, Quinoa, cous cous, birdie bread and high quality pellets.

I use pine nuts fro my RFM, but what ever treat you use don't put it in thier food mix, it's a special occasion- a treat. It shouldn't be part of the meal.

I use dehydrated apple, fig, and banana chips. I make these on my own ; however , local health stores have freshly dehydrated fruits if you dont have a dehydrator. They are a little costly at whole foods and a cheap dehydrator can be gotten on craiglist for around 10 bux thats where i got mine, walmart sells one for 32 bux to. Its worth it in the long run. You can make even birdie bread in it which makes the bread healthier since u are not heating the food to a temp to kill vitamins.
