At first, I didn't think it was very bad. My wife didn't notice any bleeding. But this morning my ear was very sore. Upon further inspection, Mac had pierced my ear just below the ear canal. His beak puctured my left ear exiting the exterior of the ear above the ear lobe. I wished it were the ear lobe, I told my wife I wanted to be one of those 60 year old guys wearing a pony tail and sporting a diamond stud earring in my ear.

Fortunately no emergency room visit was required. A little back ground about how this happened:

I had placed Mac on my wife's shoulder in order to go outside for a minute. Upon coming back inside, I went to retrieve Mac off of my wife's shoulder because he was trying to hump her hand and trying to get frisky with her. Weeeeelllllllll, Mac didn't like that one bit and growled at me a bit while climbing up my arm. Once Mac reached my shoulder, he lunged at my left ear and bit down quickly and then released it. So Mister Mac has lost shoulder time for a while. It could have been a lot worse. At least I have my ear without any chunks taken out fortunately.

I glad you are okay. That sounds very scary. It seems like your Ekkie is hormonal right now? If that is the case then I would suggest not having him on your shoulder until this period ends. Once owned a sweet female cockatiel named Pricess who only bit me once when she was hormonal. The bite was so hard that I screamed like a little girl. I was so taken back that it took days before I handled her again. So just be patient we all have to go through this. Be safe, peace to you.

Sorry for grammatical errors, I get overly excited while typing and do not go back to proof read. The bird's name was Princess. I hope you recover quickly. Like your Senegal I hope you do not hold any grudge against your Ekkie, lol.

Yikes, he's just being quite the booger lately, isn't he? Too bad you can't just send him to his room, ground him, take away the car, the tv, the ipad, the smartphone, the ipod, the stereo, the computer like a teenager.

 Do kids really have all that stuff these days? Good grief..

hahahahahahahahaha, I know what you mean. But eventhough Macky's cage is like an amusement park for him, he HATES for me to dump him off there. I think he would walk around with me 24/7 if I let him. He's not a big toy bird. He will play with his toys once every now and then, but I think he looks at ME as his favorite toy.

Glad you have no chunks missing! I agree, sounds hormonal, hope you will forgive him.

No, no hard feelings. BUT, I was a little hurt by his attack eventhough I knew why he did it and understood. It still kind of damages the trust thing and makes you take a step back. My ear is still sore because his beak bruised it quite a bit.

It's hard for me to stay mad at him because like the other day, which was the day after the bite, he came into the bathroom while I was showering standing there waiting for me to get out of the shower, the whole time saying "Peek a Boo, I see you". I dried off and went about my business and he followed me about the house saying "hello", "hello" until I picked him up. He scrambled up my arm before I could stop him. Once on my shoulder, Macky started rubbing his beak and face against my cheek purring like a kitten.
