i just got a female eccie who i think is only around 6 weeks old. I need any opinions, suggestions, help that anyone can give me. She is eating roughly 30 mls per feed and around 4-5 feeds per day. I have only had her for a day, she seems to be doing well but i am clueless about a baby this young. I have a male eccie who is 1. I need to know things like when to introduce fruit and vege, how much she should be eating, when i can introduce the two, what not to do and what i should do?
Cheers

Have you ever hand raised an eclectus before?

The breeder should be able to help you along the way on how to do things and when.

I've never hand raised before, but I have heard that it's a good idea to introduce small, soft fruits and vegetables at an early age prior to the weaning age by placing them on the bottom of the brooder and placing some inside the birds beak. I do not know the ideal time to start this process, but it is a part of what is known as abundance weaning.

Not to take away from the experience and knowledge on this forum but if you are looking for Eclectus specific info a good place to go is a yahoo group called: eclectuspetownersgroup.

There are several very experienced owners and breeders that could help you with your very specific eclectus questions.
