Hi everyone, I've been looking at different toys at different websites, and can't decide what I should get for my eclectus. Can anyone give some recommendations of toys that have been enjoyable for your birds? I have the usual colorful wooden blocks hanging from rope, but she doesn't go for it much. She loves her new boing, and loves to climb things. She basically only uses those blocks as a climbing device for when I put a red pepper up top or something. It is rare for her to go chew on them when she is bored, she would rather barber herself. So I'm looking for toys that will really capture her attention and stimulate her. The boing is great, but it just becomes a perch for her after a while, and I want to give her something to keep her active and distracted from feather destruction.

Usually most parrot toy websites list preening toys for birds that pluck or barber feathers. I have a couple in each of my birds cages just because they seem to like them .A lot of the seem to be soft and cuddly.made out of ropes and knots. None of my birds have a feather problem yet but they really seem to like these kind:D

On mysafesafebirds, they have this wicker toy its about 7 colorful wicker balls with some wicker rings under it My girl loves that toy alot. Its worth the cost to its a great sized toy. My eclectus like coconut toy I think its called the coconut man thats the only type wood i see her mess with. I also have some cheap toys from a local pet shop on looks like a loofah with some raffa on the bottom she likes to rub her beak on this toy. and i have another its like colorful robes with leather knots throughout it she plays with it for its colorfulness..

I have a boing to she likes it alot and I bought a new mop that is nature fiber, took the mop completely apart just to collect its strands. i put some knots in some stands left the other stands be tied it up in her cage she likes to preen it.

I have learned to that my birds favorite color is yellow. I didnt intentionally try to see if she had a favorite color. What happened is my girl had a pack of erasers on the breakfast bar doing her homework and Gitana saw them and went over to them and took the yellow one. I took it away and put it back in the pile and she kept going for the yellow eraser so I went and got her a bright yellow toy she is playing with that toy alot because i believe its yellow LOL

Ohh I forgot to mention if you make her a forage toy, use mini bags I mean the little tiny party favor bags or Chinese take out boxes from a craft store, don't use cereal, coke, cracker boxes or paper bags she can fit half her body in. I noticed you used "SHE" this is very important . They will turn into a she devil and then they will be extremely grumpy and lash at you to bite you for a couple hours and even up to a day later. They think its something to use as a nest.

On her feathers bathe her daily also , diet can cause them to harm their feathers no seed 1 nut is about all that is recommended to give an eclectus per day out of the shell an organic walnut, almond or pecan my girl loves. I also had to put a humidifier nearby her cage. My girl had feather issues pretty badly so now her diet is 1/4 of a boiled egg organic brown wild rice , bean mixture to equal 1/4 cup I split it for 2 helpings and fresh fruits and veggies in a bowl all day long. Her feathers are changing slowly but she is much more vibrant than when I got her. I cant wait until she goes through a couple molts so I can see her new feathers.
