For those who feed their eclectus (or any other parrot) TOPS pellets:

How can you tell if your bird is actually eating the pellets? I see it all reduced to fine crumbs, but did any of that get ingested, or does my bird just enjoy chewing it up into saw dust??

I offer Nalani TOP for small hookbills "small crumplets" I know for a fact she doesn't eat them. They are the first to end up either on the floor or flying across the room haha.

I try as much as possible to watch her eat (ie have her in the living room munching while I watch tv) I observe what she loves and hates... Pellets have to be on her hate list (along with kale, cauliflower, cucumber and other good stuff) since she is weaning I try to offer her more of what she likes... But I still give her a pinch of pellets each night. Alteast your baby actually chews on them, I find my pieces in whole on the floor. Tsk tsk she is such a little waster :53:

My girl Ruby eats Roudybush pellets very well. I have observed her hold them in her foot and eat away. I just last night ordered more Roudybush pellets and also some TOPS pellets. JerseyWendy gave me the idea to mix 2 different pellets, so if one manufacturer has a recall or problems in production my Fids will already be accustomed to another brand. She does have saw dust in the bowl bottom, but I save that for birdie bread. I have 10 parrots and waste is a big expense.
