So I got audrey her first proper foraging toy today! She's had other toys that I've added treats to for her to get out, but this is the proper plastic ball with the holes in it. AH its so funny watching her try to get the stuff out, at first she was looking at it and biting and licking the plastic like Why isn't this food in my mouth yet!!! LOL! She gets a bit grumpy with it too and attacks it when she can't get something out haha. Definitely going to get some more of these, some more 'complicated' ones down the track. :)

hahahaha i love watching them try and work out foraging toys :p but it looks like she got some out? ;)

when i first got fargo his maze foraging toy he was moving it around, but the nut still didnt go to the opening.. so he got so annoyed then gave up, a few times later he figured it out! :p
then his box foraging the first time he figured out how to open the boxes he just sat there opening, closing, opening, closing.. totally forgot about the treats inside hahah

LOVE IT! And it looks like Audrey loves it even more. You know the bad part about me seeing your post is now I want to get one of those for my birds. You enabled me! LOL. Like I'm not going overboard enough already ;)

Is Audrey still beating on it? Or has she figured out how to "work it"?

what are the little wooden pieces? just like pine wood blocks?

haha i thought the maze ones would be really hard for them to figure out, but fargos gotten the hang of it.. im not sure he actually knows what hes doing, but i think hes just turning it like crazy ;)

foraging toys are pretty expensive here as well and the shop i go to only had like 2 types :( will have to order them online

She spent a good while pulling at it, attacking it, slowly pulling things out LOL but now she's given up and gone to her food bowl hahaha! I am an enabler LOL! Its worth though, I can see these things being entertaining for hours! xD

The wooden pieces are just like little balls and tube shape things.. hard to explain lmao xD They are on a lot of the toys. They are coloured with safe dye too :D I get her this toy that is a huge vine ball and has the wooden pieces inside and I add a couple of treats to it as well but she chews it up in a week and it costs $35 for each one so this foraging ball should be much cheaper lol! xD

I know, they are a rip off over here! :( I ordered it from my safe bird store and with the shipping it was still cheaper than buying it here! I'm on their website as we speak looking at more LOL

hahaha obviously the food bowl is much easier to get food out of ;)
yes foraging toys are cheaper in the long run !

i know! the maze one was 30 dollars, and the box one was 49 dollars in the shop? but ! the breeder who i got fargo from gave it to me as a present! i was like awwww xD

really ? i might look into doing that! i compare prices of my safe bird store and then australian my parrot shop.. and my safe bird store is soo cheap! especially with the medium/large bird toys!
i was just unsure if the postage would cost lots!

The postage can cost a bit , and sometimes the website tells you a crazy price like $450 lmao!! Just email the lady and she will give you a real quote for the shipping :D I brought the foraging ball, this really big java perch with all toys attached to it and some wooden blocks and it cost $50 including the postage which was $20 :D Still cheaper then buying in aus lol!!

Ahh, I'll have to try emailing for shipping quote - I abandoned my cart-load of goodies on there the other day when I saw the shipping charge to Australia (yikes!$$).

I love the look of that foraging ball. Looks like it screws open so you can clean the inside properly? I bought the 'can of nuts' the other day (the clear green cylindrical one with kind of peanut-shaped holes) to stuff greens into, but when I got it home I realised that the foraging holes are the only accesss to the interior...so it's fiddly to load up, and difficult to scrub out properly.

I've been looking too, without luck. Am so very envious of all the gorgeous java & manzanita(sp?) bird stands available in the US. I'd LOVE one, but the freight - eek! - plus I wonder if customs/quarrantine would get hold of it and make me pay even more for inspection & treating because it's a tree branch(?)

I would have definitely bought the ball one if I'd realised at the time. Now I can see I'll end up with BOTH (& one not getting used). Oh well, live and learn!
