And Audrey is wide awake... She started climbing around her cage frantically so naturally I went to check her, then she started flapping hysterically all over the place :( I took her out and gave her a cuddle for a few minutes and put her back on her perch but the second I put her down she flew right back out to me. So I gave her to my partner while I thoroughly checked over her cage for any bugs or something that might be scaring her, but I can't see anything. Once she's out of the cage she's fine, sitting with me making her very happy clucks. So I don't know what that was all about but I need to be up again in a few hours, so tomorrow will be a fun day lol!! Any one have any clues as to what could of happened? I cover her up so she can't see any shadows or anything in her cage to spook her, and I was awake anyway trying to fall asleep and I didn't hear any noises that would have scared her, so very weird!

The same happened to me and Eloy for some nights ago. (and I don't have any mouse in my house :p)
We can almost never know what our bird react too, but I think it's very imported that we are their for them. (The bond will only get stronger when they need us)

I don't keep Eloy cage covered, but after that accident I have a night lamp for him. Keep the lamp on, and do not cover her, then you can go to sleep.
Tomorrow you can cover her cage again if you want.

It could have been a night fright, it can happen in parrots. :( I don't know much about it, but that was probably what it was.
Night Frights
Here's an article that may help. Poor Audrey! :10:

Marshmallow chewed her a peek hole in her cage cover and she will peek out at me if she awakens. Maybe Audrey would like a peek hole so she could see out if she gets scared. I read birds can have bad dreams so maybe she had a nightmare.

Agree with crazy, it could be night frights. Lots of birds get them, if Audrey is still scared could you get him a night light ? Birds are less scared when they can see around them and see whats happening

I hope she just got spooked. One of the nights that Puck got sick, he was very restless. Next day I had to take him to the ER. :(

Gees, sorry, KC.. you didn't get much sleep either then.

You are the second person who's reporting a night terror with their birds (Eloy was the other, and she has a Pionus), and I swear, I've NEVER heard of these birds getting them.

What is up with that???

My princess used to get night terrors as well. She would flap around her cage hysterically for no apparent reason. She would only stop when I'd leap out of bed to go and turn the light on for her so she could see there were no monsters under her bed.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Well when I first got Audrey home I'd never cover her up ad she had night terrors every night and would start squawking and freaking out every night so I started covering her up and she has slept much better. I also leave the kitchen light on so it's not pitch black dark, she can still see but feels protected from the cover. Poor thing! She's very quiet today so I hope she's okay, and just tired, I am a paranoid mumma lol. I know one thing, she was VERYYY happy to be sitting with me in my bed last night hahaha she was happy clucking every few seconds. She always makes these three little clucks in a row when she's really happy, and I've never heard her do it so much so I'm sure she was very appreciative of the long cuddle I gave her hehe. :)

Or Remy that worries me!! I hope she's ok. She's very very quiet and still but it could be from lack of sleep. I'll be keeping an eye on her! :(
