Hey,

Hope everyone is well and all your birds happy and healthy!

I have noticed that Loki seems to be loosing little grey feathers. So I think he's in his first moult.

He's a little less cuddly and a bit nippy, really biting down hard which is unusual.

Is there anything I can do too make him more comfortable? Want to spend more time with him making him nice and comfy. Any help?

thanks,

x

My girl's going through her first molt too! Woohoo!
Extra baths to soften the hard sheaths around the new feathers, GENTLE preening of pinfeathers, and plenty of patience are recommended. Let me know how it goes!

Lots of baths, also taking them into the bathroom when you shower. the steam is wonderful for them. They won't like to be touched as much as pin feathers are sensitive. They usually want extra food at this time, growing new feathers takes lots of energy.

I'm going to start taking him for breakfast into the bathroom with me for morning, food and steam social treatment lol.

oh I love him so much, I just want him to be okay, hate that he's all nippy and uncomfotable. No touching at the moment, just likes sitting on me with me with no petting.

I hate how study and work gets in the way of quality time with Loki :(

I hate being a grown up.. lol.
