Worried about my female Eclectus......

I have had a breeding pair of eclectus parrots for about a year and a half. I actually purchased them together. Recently the male got loose and flew away and as much as i'm worried about him surviving I'm also very worried about my females well being. She now sits out on her perch and just seems to be calling out for him. This is not a normal behavior for her. She also seems very sad. What should I do? Should I try to get another male or is that not a good thing? I feel just as lost as she seems. This is really tearing me up inside.

Wow, sorry for your loss.

First, have you been to 911 Parrot Alert- Lost & Found Parrot & Bird database, Report a Lost Bird or Found Bird If not you should post a notice there.

As far as what to do with the remaining bird I would lean towards not getting another. She lost her mate, she is not just looking for any new bird to bond with. In fact if she is ready to bond with someone new she can bond with you. I'm sure this is hard for both of you, but getting a new bird will not make it go away.

Thanks so much for the info on the 911 parrot alert. I'm sending a message now to report my bird missing. I also appreciate the feedback on my female and I think your right I'm just gonna take her and love her and try to make her feel close to us now. Thanks Again. Misty
