Does Rumi need a beak trim? His beak looks a bit long to me. My female does a much better job of keeping her beak trimmed, but he doesn't seem so good at it! Do I need to take him to the vet for a trim? I have no idea why the attachment is rotated...
Not yet time for a special vet visit. I think it is still an appropriate length. If this were Chico I would touch up the tip and sides with my dremel so there won't be too much material to remove later. Chico has the same thin ridge half way down his beak and this has flaked off at times. I found this can be prevented by grinding it down to the natural curve of the beak. I also like to round the tip a little to keep the overall length down and to help prevent breakage from an impact when he taps his beak on hard objects.
