Hi ,
Meant to ask about this a little while back. Jack makes certain little noises, more like little squeaky grunts, he always does this after dinner whilst sitting on a perch, does this for a while. So also unsure if these little noises he makes after every single dinner time is either hiccups , being content or something else? Today I have him currently rummaging thru the bottom of his play gym snacking on some pellets and whatever millet seeds he can find on the floor of it. Whilst rummaging thru the floor of his gym he is again making these sounds straight after each other and especially makes it a tiny bit louder when Im talking to him and continues on with these little squeaky grunts. Is this just him talking to himself ???
Is this a good thing, a content thing ? Or is it something else ?
I have no idea what normal sounds a parrot makes , so I just need to make sure. The more frequent sqawking that was becoming louder has now gone since introducing weetbix with a tiny bit of honey in the morning. Im guessing he wasnt eating enough and was letting me know, he has since become a really placid little boy since starting him on weetbix and strawberries. Added a couple of new photos.
Thanks ,
Robyn

The grunting sounds just like something Auggie often does - it seems to be a sound of contentment - often while eating something good, or while grooming (himself or me), or playing with a cool toy.

Hi,
Thanks for that, just wanted to make sure it wasnt some sort of hiccups.
Thanks,

Hi there.
I know all about the grunting noises.... Mishka is an African Grey parrot.
When I have place a new toy in Mishka's cage, or rotated the toys, she grunts, and makes the funniest sounds and moans.
She notices the changes, and thinks they are new toys.
I know that she is happy and content.
Take care

Earl does this the whole time he eats. That's how we know that he likes it! Peanut has just started doing the same thing while he eats too. I consider it a happy sound! :D

Thank you guys,

To me it seems happy contented sounds and heseems to do it when he is rummaging around the floor of his play gym , starting to play with some things that would have saved me a fortune on the expensive toys he doesnt touch lol.
Im just trying to figure out now how to get him down off the tops of my kitchen cupboards when he does fly into my kitchen. He seems to like it up there , its higher and he knows we cant get him unless we get a chair, we have ignored thsi a few times but after a while we want to get him down. If anybody has any ideas on this , would be much appreciated. Other than that , he seems a happy boy. Just a little naughty getting into the high spots of the kitchen.
Earl & Mishka sounds just like Jack when he eats, yes like little piggy grunts lolol sooo cute.

Thanks for your messages ,

Robyn
