hi guys and gals,
I have just this last week noticed a high invasion in those little Gnats (Fruit flies)..
I know what most of you guys r going to say .'Oh your cages rnt clean' but I clean around the clock. Never leaving uneaten fruit and veggies out for more than a hour after feeding, change cage paper daily and water sometimes twice a day.
I just cant stand this any longer and was wondering if anyone knew a BIRD FREINDLY spray io can use on these little buggers??:green:

Put out a small bowl with some apple cider vinegar and a little red wine vinegar mixed up with a couple of squirts of dish soap. :) The fruit flies will be attracted to it and drown.

I had the same problem! Just picked up a couple of fruit fly traps at the local hardware store, theyre pesticide free and safe to be around animals. It came in a little shaker (like what your spices would come in) with a packet of some weird smelling stuff that you add water and dish soap to. I've had it out for 2 or 3 days now and haven't seen a single fly.

The apple cider and dish soap thing does work but you have to keep at it or they will come back every now and then

HI Fellow Parrot Lovers! Baby Green Wing Macaw, Loving Departed Yellow-naped Amazon "Poe"
I use fly paper rolls and glue traps for fly problems, I get them in my tarantula tank

They have no fumes and no chemicals

These are my favorites

I leave them flat, I don't fold them up like it says on the instructions

I find if you put a bright light where you want to catch the flies and then tape one of these to the light so the light hits it flies are drawn right to it

The idea is to kill them faster than they make babies

Hope this helps

Joe

The vinegar flies lay their eggs (or whatever the hell they are) on anything they can get their butts onto. Check your rubbish bin lids and other hidey-holes for those as well. If you don't find where they've put the babies, they'll just keep coming, no matter how many you drown.
