A few of you know the epic struggle I usually have getting Bixby (aka Pig Pen) to take a shower. Epic! He typically flees like I'm spritzing him with concentrated acid or some such. Lol!

Well, I don't know what clicked last night, but it's like he stopped running long enough to realize that cleanliness isn't all that bad! Then, gradually, he began to actually enjoy himself! He actually even spread his wings for more coverage!!! (I know this is old hat for most of you, but I'm sure one or two of you out there know my pain. Haha!)

Without further ado, here's my soggy boy!

Awww how awesome!!! Maybe I could borrow him for a day or two so he can teach Yoshi what it's all about? Hah.
My Kiwi loves baths.. but she's the only one! The other two won't bathe for the life of me.. so I definitely know of your "epic" struggles!!

Yay Bixby!!!! Bathing is so much fun...glad you are showing more interest. Mine get the added fun of me shouting and getting excited, now when they see the spray bottle it's like a ticker-tape parade. After every one's bath this morning I started the 5 hr long process of scrubbing cages and perches. Jillie thought she needed a second bath and dove in her water the whole time I was vacuuming...silly girl.:p

Woot Woot Woot! Yay Bixby!!! THAT's what bathing is all about. :D And I bet you had an enormous smile on your face, Stephen when Bixby started getting "into" the splish-splash.

He's looking mighty spiffy, I may add. :) Love all the photos!!

Funny you mention the part about shouting and getting excited, Labell, because I did just that since you'd suggested it to me, earlier. Well, the excited part, anyway. I'm not much of a shouter. Lol! Bixby looked at me like i was insane, at first, but he eventually got into the groove too!

ROTFL! Stephen, Bixby is a picture of - um - swampedness! LOLOLOL! How adorable is a wet bird, eh? I'm so glad he's begun to enjoy his shower: it's one of the better aspects of bird ownership, isn't it? The obvious pleasure they derive from being wet to the skin is just the BEST. Thank you for letting us share Bixby's bath. Please tell him Aunty Patricia thinks he is a Very Spiffy-looking Boy! :)

YAY Bixby! He is such a wet, soppy, beautiful boy:)
In his dry pics at the end, I can't believe how much bright blue he has on his wing!!! Ekko doesn't have nearly that much.
Looks like your patience and hard work finally paid off:) So thrilled for you both:)

Glad to know I wasn't alone, Ashley! Looks like Bixby has turned over a new leaf, but like any good experiment, we should be able to repeat the results before touting it as fact. So let's keep our fingers crossed for round two! (Just to be sure he and Yoshi don't strengthen each other's resolve! Lol)

Thanks, Jen! And I'm looking forward to finding that video of Ivory!

Thanks, Trish! I know he'll be very happy to hear from Auntie Patricia! And funny you mention his "swampedness". The look of a drenched eclectus is quite... different from that of say a conure or cockatiel. So the first time I managed to give Bixby a good soaking, I remember I had to send a pic to Terry and ask if that was normal! Hahaha! She had to reassure me that there was nothing wrong with poor Bixby. Smh.

Thanks, Terry! But Bixby doesn't have nearly as much reddish orange on his beak, so I reckon they're even. ;)

Lol. Sunny was terrified of any kind of baths when we got her. She had been sprayed with a hose to get her out of back yard trees and would scream bloody murder if you tried to get her wet. We finally resorted to trying to spray her gently while she sat on a bird stand. She would desperately try to climb down and would wind up hanging by her beak under the pan on the stand. Finally on the third or fourth time we tried that. she suddenly stopped screaming and fleeing and asked "bath?". "Yes" we exclaimed. " Bath. Nice!" She paused a moment and then spread her wings and yelled "wuv it". She has "loved it" ever since much to our relief. Actually Sunny "loves" a lot of things. That's a great way to view the world, I think. Bixby is very handsome wet. I hope he comes to love his baths as much as Sunny does!

That's great news Stephen! :D now that you've broken the ice, I think he'll be just fine with baths from now on. In fact, he's probably feeling silly now that he resisted all along! LOL :)

Hahahaha! Oh my. Those are absolutely adorable pictures! I couldn't help but grin and giggle :D! It's so wonderful when your birds actually enjoy bathing. Avery loves taking incredibly messy baths in her water bowl but couldn't care less about coming into the shower with me or being sprayed.... she just sits there and looks at me as if saying, "I'm only doing this because I love you, but I don't know how much longer that will be for... " :p

From your lips to Bixby's ears, I hope! Lol!

Thank you! And I absolutely loved your story! Your fid must have a LOT of trust in you to get past a fear of water spray imposed by the blast of a hose! Nice!

That's great news Stephen! :D now that you've broken the ice, I think he'll be just fine with baths from now on. In fact, he's probably feeling silly now that he resisted all along! LOL :)

Thanks, Julie! I hope you're right. Judging from the cast of Bixby's character, though, I don't see him feeling silly about anything. He'll probably chalk it off to me spraying him wrong or something! Smh. (Much like how he likes to "quarrel" with me whenever he messes up one of his flying maneuvers. OBVIOUSLY my fault! Lol!)

Haha! Love it! Isn't it amazing how much personality these little guys have? And thanks, Chantal! Glad you enjoyed the pics.
