Wal-Mart

Just placed a huge order on Paradise Perch but stumbled across Wal-Mart's website and noticed they have some bird stuff too. Can someone take a quick peek and let me know if anything there would be OK for an Eclectus?

I liked the looks of a Kaytee treat stick, maybe if I broke them into smaller pieces.

I've bought a few bird items from wal-mart before and honestly have had no complaints. I haven't ordered those specific treat sticks (not something my bird would eat regardless where it came from), but I have gotten him toys there and seen some actually pretty nice cages on their online site. I wouldn't buy a "store brand" seed mix as a staple diet or anything like that from WM, but something like the treat stick is probably fine. Kaytee is a national, well known brand and just because WM carries them doesn't make it automatically bad for your bird

They actually have some pretty decent toys for small/midsize birds. They also sell Kaytee seeds that I use for my dove mix (parakeet+finch) It's not where you buy it, its what it is.

For toys I need to be able to actually see it in person so I can fully assess if it will be alright for Valentino. I have ordered on line before so I have to try to best assess what it is I am looking at pictures of to make sure it will be alright for Valentino. It is harder this way but I find with sites that are into only bird related merchandize will categorize their stuff to size and strength of the parrot so it makes it a little bit easier to order the appropriate toys for the size bird I have.

Walmart toys are mostly for budgies and cockatiels. There might be some available for smaller conures but that would depend on the individual parrot with keeping them safe. Of course the Wallmart bird food and toys are not appropriate for my RFM but are still of good quality for the appropriate side bird. Knowing Eclectus are not as destructive (still depending on the Eclectus as I taught Joaquin to be a avid chewer of wood to help keep his beak in shape) I personally could not use the Wallmart toys for Joaquin as they would of been unsafe for him because of his size and destructive level.

I am not a fan of Hartz products at all. They were quality in the 70's back when they were the only bird supply chain of food and toys but now are in my opinion not very good at all. There is way better bird supplies out there than Hartz. I can't believe they used a RFM as the parrot for their large parrot diet seed blend. *sigh*
