Jasper (6yr old Solomon Island Eclectus Parrot)
Hello!

So far everything is going well with Jasper. He was at my parents while I was on vacation but now he's home. He still doesn't like being on the floor/will run back to his cage but I need to make a playstand which I think will help.

I also have a lot of trouble getting him to eat fruit...

His nails have gotten long and they hurt when he's standing on my hand now. I heard filing them is better, but he won't stay still to let me do them. Any tips? Other methods?

I don't have any perches in with him yet that will file nails, waiting for the parrotdiseperch website to go back online.

Many thanks :)

Nice to hear you were remembered.....as to nail/talon trimming, if you invest in something like this "Sweet Feet" SAFETY PEDICURE PERCH large, Feather Fantasy, your bird will take care of its own pedicures & beak care.....there are a number of brands, but be sure the top is smooth, rough perches all the way around can abrade a bird's toe & foot pads.....

If you mount one of these type perches next to their water or food dish, you're assured they'll use it.....
