Hi All,

I'm into my 4th week of owning my Ekkie, for the last two days hes poop has been very runny/watery, I'm assuming due to their diet of fruit and veg this is normal? I've not changed his diet and he's acting his normal self.

Thanks in advance
Nick

Birds who eat lots of fresh produce tend to have runny droppings (extra moisture). Are the droppings still otherwise "normal" (in color, still distinguishable between the feces, urates and urine)?

Also, since he is new, have you had his vet checkup yet? Always a good idea with a new bird (even a baby from a reputable breeder, but even more so if an adopted rescue or from a petshop or show) to have an AV to give a physical exam and run a full blood and fecal workup:) Birds can come home sick, and are good at hiding it. If you haven't already, I would suggest you do. Better safe than sorry!

Can you take a picture and post it? As with any parrot species, Ekkies should have poops with distinguishable feces, urates, and urine. If it just looks like one big mixed together "splat" like true diarrhea, and it keeps going on, a vet visit is in order. As said above, good practice to get a full and complete new bird exam. Good luck!
