I have often wondered what Puffin does on the days I leave him home which is usually when one of my kids are home.

This morning Puffin woke up and as usual he starts chatting madly like he prctices all his vocabulary. He started with "kissess for mum" then "what are you doing", "Mum, I love you mum, I love you,I love you, I love you" then I nearly died when he came out with " Puffin, stop it,stop it, do you want to go back in your cage, you naughty little birdie"

So now the hunt is on, which kid said it and what was Puffin doing at the time and who is going to confess!:D

Well all the family have now heard Puffins new words and no one is fessing up yet but I think they finally realise just how smart these birds are and that they can copy anything! I am now waiting for him to start saying "Dibber Dobber"!

Seems my kids just don't learn! I was just lying on my couch enjoying some well earnt peace and quiet and Puffin was jibber jabbering away and all of a sudden he comes out with " shut up!" Little do they realise it has now pointed the blame squarely at my son as the culprit as he is really the only one who is alone with Puffin a lot during the day as he works weekends and has 2 days off mid week and usually watches tv in the same area as Puffin during the day.

This has now caused me grave concern as one of the things my son watches is wrestling and he can get quite vocal when it's on! I think Puff is going to spend more time at work with me from now on!:D

HAHA luv reading this. Little Puffin is getting real good at picking up those expressive words. I wish Eddie would pick things up that easy (although maybe not the bad ones) He's not much of a talker.

Does Puffin enjoy going to work with you? Sounds like a lot of fun.

Oh Puffin is a great talker! He loves coming to work and loves being in the car and he gets all excited as soon as I bring his travel cage in the room. He even says " wanna go to work?"

I have a special stand at work and he can be free roaming there which I don't let him do at home because we have 3 cats and I just don't trust them LOL. I also wanted him to be exposed to lots of people and talking so we have been taking him since we got him at 14 weeks old. I often wonder if his good vocab is because he is hearing people talking so much and different voices and expressions. I am sure it helped.

The only thing he is not really keen on is driving home if it's dark, he doesn't really like the headlights on other cars but I just cover the cage if I get held up at work and it's getting dark.

I had to put up a sign near his cage warning people not to give him certain foods and that I would prefer them to only give him his treats which I keep near the stand unless they check with me or my husband and it works really well for everyone. There is nothing better when you have had a really stressful day to walk past him and he says " Hello, what are you doing?" :green:

lol he sounds like such a hoot. What a personality (Bet you spoil him rotten, I would :p). He would certainly lighted up my day if he asked me what I was doing. My birds always make me feel better

Puffin sounds like a real little character asking you ... hello what are you doing :p
He is also so fortunate to go with you to work. You are quite correct, the more people he interacts with, hears them talking, the better are his chances of being a good talker.

I am very lucky that I own my own business . We help families who need to place a relative into aged care by locating the right aged care home and helping with all the paperwork so a lot of my clients love the distraction Puffin can be as they are usually very stressed.

I'm self-employed as well so have the privaledge of taking Shadow to work too. I love it, so do my clients and Shadow I was hoping to alternate Chicka with her eventually but Chicka's quite anxious so I don't see that happening soon.

Yeah, I do bring my keet with me sometimes when I go out shopping or out to eat. People just watch me in awe. "A teenage kid with a bird on his shoulder?" LOL

It's quite funny peoples reactions. I take Shadow with me whenever possible. People do second takes all the time, and often ask if she's real - they are amazed a bird can be so tame. I've even been having conversations with Mums at my sons school with Shadow perched on my arm and it hasn't been until Marcus comes over and gets her to step up on his arm that they realise she's there. It's pretty special

Not only is it fun seeing peoples reaction but they can come in quite handy too! I have had overdue fines waived at the video shop when I have had Puffin on my shoulder as I took the late dvd's back :D
