I have an 11 month old SI Eclectus. Got him when he was just weaned and his wings were clipped. A couple of questions:
1) When does he molt and grow his wings back as I thought it would have happened by now?
2: Half his tail feather has fallen off. I initially thought this is the start of a moult but i am now not so sure. The other half of his tail looks really worn out. A possible reason I thought this could be was I put him into trees alot and he goes wild going up and down the tree for an hour or so and just playing. Maybe that would cause him to wear out and damage his tail? At the moment he just looks weird with half a tail.
I feed him an ok diet I believe. Lots of fruit and corn and some veggies and beans and probably 20-25% seeds and nuts. And besides that he is generally a very happy bird who already has a healthy vocabulary of 20+ words. His favourite lately is "Be right back!"
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am planning on taking him to the vet early in the new year.
